    • Rare steal in loss
Alonso went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and one stolen base in Saturday's 9-6 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Alonso's steal was just his second of the year, as speed is rarely a factor in his play. He's got plenty of reason to feel optimistic lately though -- the first baseman has gone 15-for-46 (.326) over his last 12 contests while adding 14 RBI in that span. Overall, Alonso is at a .244/.330/.472 slash line with 17 home runs, 46 RBI, 46 runs scored and 19 doubles through 80 games. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago
    • Strikes out eight in win
Bassitt (7-6) earned the win over the Yankees on Saturday, allowing one unearned run on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Bassitt fired five scoreless innings before Anthony Volpe reached on an error in the sixth and came around to score on a single by Aaron Judge. He has now logged three consecutive quality starts and has not allowed more than three earned runs in an outing since April 26. The 35-year-old has lowered his ERA over two full runs since the conclusion of April and now owns a 3.24 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 91:37 K:BB over 97.1 innings this season. He lines up for a home matchup with the Astros next week. Rotowire.com Today, 5:01 pm

    • Bibee picks up seventh win against Royals Saturday
Tanner Bibee allowed two runs in six innings and got the win in the Guardians’ 7-2 victory over the Royals on Saturday.

Advice: Bibee gave up four hits, walked none and struck out three. The win was his seventh of the season and third in a row. It wasn’t a big strikeout game for Bibee, just another solid outing. He has a 3.47 ERA and 3.29 xFIP on the year. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Giants at home next week.

    • Manny Machado homers twice in rout of Red Sox
Manny Machado homered twice and drove in five runs in an 11-1 blowout victory over the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Machado blasted both homers off Tanner Houck, a three-run shot in the fifth and a two-run blast in the second. It’s the first multi-homer game for the 31-year-old in 2024, but five of his 10 homers have come thus far in the month of June. Machado’s also picked up multiple hits in his last three games and six times since June 19, and appears to be righting the ship after a disappointing first two-plus months of the campaign. • Irvin allows one in six innings in win over Rays
Jake Irvin allowed one run in six innings and got the win in the Nationals’ 8-1 victory over the Rays on Saturday.

Advice: Irvin gave up one hit, walked three and struck out six. He allowed a solo home run to Brandon Lowe in the first inning, but was otherwise excellent. Irvin won four of his five starts in June and lowered his ERA to 3.03 on the year. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face the Mets at home next week.

    • Chris Bassitt strikes out eight in win vs. Yankees
Chris Bassitt allowed one run -- zero earned -- with eight strikeouts over six innings in a win over the Yankees on Saturday.

Advice: Bassitt was excellent against the Yankees, tossing his third straight quality start. He tossed four scoreless frames before the Yankees brought a run in after an error in the fifth. Bassitt would close out a scoreless sixth with eight strikeouts on the day. The 35-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.24 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and a 91/37 K/BB ratio across 97 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Astros in Toronto on Thursday. Rotoworld Today, 3:03 pm

    • Back in action
Rutschman (hand) is starting at catcher and batting second Saturday against the Rangers.

Advice: Rutschman was given a day off Friday after he played through a right hand injury Thursday, and he seems to be feeling better ahead of Saturday's contest. Over his last 10 games, the 26-year-old backstop has gone 15-for-40 with a home run, two RBI and seven runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 1:34 pm

    • Adley Rutschman (hand) returns to lineup Saturday
Adley Rutschman (hand) returned to the Orioles’ starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: The 26-year-old backstop sat out Friday’s game due to soreness in his right hand, but he’s right back out there behind the dish to catch Cade Povich on Saturday night. Rutschman is enjoying another tremendous season at the plate, slashing .300/.351/.479 with 15 homers, 55 RBI and one stolen base through his first 77 games. Rotoworld Today, 1:26 pm

    • Shut down from throwing again
Romano was shut down from throwing after experiencing discomfort in his right elbow Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: It's the second time Romano has been shut down from throwing since landing on the injured list June 1. Manager John Schneider said Saturday that Romano will get an evaluation on his right elbow from Dr. Meister on July 2, which should give clarity on next steps for the 31-year-old closer, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports. Prior to his injury, Romano registered eight saves with a 6.59 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 13.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:33 am
