    • Bryan Woo (hamstring) to make rehab start Saturday
Bryan Woo (hamsting) will make a minor league rehab start at High-A Everett on Saturday.

Advice: The Mariners are hopeful that he’ll be able to throw around 45-50 pitches in the ballgame. Woo also participated in pitcher’s fielding practice without issue on Friday. He won’t be ready to rejoin the Mariners’ rotation next week, but it sounds like he could be ready to go immediately following the All-Star break. Rotoworld Today, 3:49 pm

    • Jared Jones dealing with Grade 2 lat strain
The Pirates announced Friday that Jared Jones is dealing with a Grade 2 lat strain and will be shut down from throwing for the next two weeks.

Advice: The Pirates are tying to find ways to manage the 22-year-old right-hander’s workload this season, so this doesn’t change his overall outlook for the season all that much. He’ll be re-evaluated after the two weeks to determine the schedule for ramping him back up. Fantasy managers may want to plan on being without Jones for the entire month of July. • Returns to Colorado lineup
Doyle (calf) will start in center field and bat fifth in Friday's game versus the Royals.

Advice: He didn't play in Thursday's game against the Brewers after fouling a ball off his calf the day before, but Doyle is ready to roll for the series opener versus Kansas City. Doyle is one of four players this season with 10-plus home runs and 20-plus stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 1:30 pm

    • Mark Vientos absent from Mets’ lineup on Friday
Mark Vientos is absent from the Mets’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Pirates.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 24-year-old slugger. Jose Iglesias will draw a rare start against a right-hander in his place. He’ll start at the hot corner and bat seventh against Paul Skenes and the Pirates on Friday evening at PNC Park. Rotoworld Today, 1:03 pm

    • Diagnosed with Grade 2 lat strain
Jones will be shut down for two weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 right lat strain, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Jones will be re-evaluated after those two weeks before the next steps of his rehab are determined. The rookie right-hander suffered the injury during his last start Wednesday against the Cardinals and was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday. Given the ramp-up that will be required after the shutdown period, it seems safe to rule Jones out for at least the remainder of July. Rotowire.com Today, 12:56 pm

    • Getting breather
Vientos is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Pittsburgh.

Advice: After making 10 consecutive starts at third base Vientos will take a seat for Friday's series opener. Jose Iglesias will bat seventh and play third base. Rotowire.com Today, 12:32 pm

    • On bench Friday
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Jeffers will get a breather Friday after notching three hits, including a two-run homer and an RBI double, during Thursday's win over Detroit. Christian Vazquez will catch and bat ninth against Houston. Rotowire.com Today, 11:20 am

    • On base three times Thursday
Chisholm went 1-for-4 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's extra-innings loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: He was also caught stealing, giving the center fielder 15 steals in 23 attempts on the season. Chisholm had drawn just one free pass over his prior 13 games, so his display of patience was unexpected and not likely to be repeated any time soon. On the year, 26-year-old is slashing .259/.326/.416 through 84 contests with 10 homers, 37 runs and 40 RBI, and most importantly Chisholm has stayed healthy after missing 167 games across the last two seasons. • Another three-hit performance
Witt went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Rays.

Advice: Witt drove home Kansas City's second run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the third inning before recording a hit in each of his next three trips to the plate, including a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth. It was the star shortstop's third multi-hit performance in his last four games, and he's now tallied at least one RBI in four straight. Witt is 6-for-11 (.545) through three games to start the month of July, and his .319 average on the season puts him at second in the majors behind Steven Kwan (.367). Rotowire.com Today, 4:53 am
