    • Possible return Monday
Nootbaar (oblique) is nearing a return and could rejoin the Cardinals as soon as Monday in Washington.

Advice: Nootbaar has been out since May 30 while recovering from a left oblique strain, but he appears to be on the cusp of being activated from the 15-day injured list. The outfielder went 6-for-23 with two home runs, three RBI and four runs scored over seven games during his rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield before joining returning to St. Louis. • Tallies four hits in win
Langford went 4-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 13-2 win over the Rays.

Advice: This was Langford's second four-hit game over his last seven contests after he hit for the cycle last Sunday. The outfielder is 12-for-26 (.462) in that span, and he's also added a 4:6 BB:K. It's taken him some time, but it appears he's found some consistency at the plate midway through his rookie year. Langford is slashing .270/.337/.398 with four home runs, 37 RBI, 28 runs scored, 11 doubles, four triples and seven stolen bases over 66 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 4:22 pm

    • Beginning rehab assignment Tuesday
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol confirmed Sunday that Edman (wrist) remains on track to begin his minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield on Tuesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Edman's surgically repaired right wrist apparently responded well to batting practice sessions in Springfield on Friday and Saturday, with the latter being a live session against rehabbing right-hander Riley O'Brien (forearm). Unless Edman experiences another setback with his wrist in the next day, he'll see his first game action of the season Tuesday. Edman will presumably remain on his rehab assignment throughout the week before the Cardinals reassess his status coming out of the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 1:13 pm

    • Heading to bench Sunday
Siri is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Texas, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Siri is mired in a 1-for-23 slump and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale. Jonny DeLuca will start in center field and bat seventh against Rangers righty Nathan Eovaldi. Rotowire.com Today, 11:29 am

    • Resting Sunday
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Ruiz will get a breather for the day game after he started behind the plate in the first two games of the series with St. Louis, going 4-for-9 with a home run, a double, a walk, four RBI and two additional runs between those contests. Riley Adams will get the nod at catcher Sunday. Rotowire.com Today, 8:48 am

    • Cleared for baseball activity
McLain (shoulder) was cleared Friday to begin baseball activities, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cincinnati manager David Bell said McLain met some strength markers and can now begin a progression. The Reds are putting together a regimen of activities, and McLain could perform those activities in Arizona or with the team. Rotowire.com Today, 5:20 am

    • Done with rehab assignment
Nootbaar (oblique) said Saturday that he has finished his rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield and is heading to St. Louis, Rob Rains of StLSportsPage.com reports.

Advice: Nootbaar spoke to Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol on Saturday, and though his rehab assignment is now completed, it's unclear if the outfielder will be reinstated from the 10-day injured list before the big club's series in Washington comes to an end Monday. After Monday's contest, the Cardinals will return to St. Louis to kick off a five-game homestand that begins Tuesday versus the Royals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:00 pm

    • Stops swinging bat
Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Muncy (oblique) has been shut down from swinging a bat, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Roberts added that Muncy hasn't progressed through his rehab as fast as the team had hoped, and the chances of the third baseman beginning a rehab assignment near the All-Star break have been reduced significantly. A right oblique strain has kept Muncy on the injured list since May 17, and his latest setback once again leaves him without a clear return timeline. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:36 pm

    • Max Muncy (oblique) shut down from swinging again
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Saturday that Max Muncy has been shut down from swinging a bat again as his oblique injury is simply not progressing.

Advice: Muncy has been sidelined since the middle of May due to a right oblique strain and any hopes of him returning in July are now out of the picture with this setback. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues that don’t have IL spots may be better served cutting bait and finding better use of the roster spot. Muncy has hit .223/.323/.475 with nine homers and 28 RBI in the 40 games that he has been able to play in this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:33 pm
