    • Survives early onslaught
Valdez (7-5) earned the win over Toronto on Thursday, allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

Advice: It looked like Valdez could be in for a rough outing when five of the first six batters he faced got a hit, resulting in three runs. However, the left-hander got out of that frame without incurring additional damage, and he went on to complete six frames without surrendering any additional runs. Eight of the nine hits Valdez allowed overall were singles, which was key in limiting damage, as Toronto hit into four double plays against him. This was far from Valdez's sharpest outing, but he was nonetheless able to log his seventh victory and ninth quality start of the campaign. Rotowire.com 27 minutes ago
    • Christian Walker homers twice again versus Dodgers
Christian Walker hit two more homers and walked twice Thursday as the Diamondbacks dominated the Dodgers 9-3.

Advice: Walker also homered twice Thursday. He has nine homers in nine games against the Dodgers this season, compared to 12 in 78 games against everyone else. With his OPS having climbed from .780 on Friday to .871 now, he’d seem to have a pretty good shot of finally landing his first All-Star berth. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago
    • Goes yard in win
Chapman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Thursday's 4-2 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Chapman is 14-for-38 (.368) with four homers and 12 RBI over his last 10 contests. The third baseman put the Giants ahead with his fourth-inning solo shot and then added the RBI double for an insurance run in the sixth. Chapman's recent surge has him at a .245/.325/.426 slash line with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 56 runs scored, 23 doubles and seven stolen bases through 85 contests this season. • Chapman belts home run, RBI double in win Thursday
Matt Chapman went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI against the Braves on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was his 12th of the season. Chapman took Charlie Morton deep in the fourth inning and then hit an RBI double in the sixth inning. He’s hitting .245 with a .751 OPS and 42 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Today, 7:06 pm

    • Framber Valdez gets quality start, win vs. TOR
Framber Valdez allowed three runs over six innings in a win over the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Advice: Valdez gave up nine hits and walked two while striking out four. The overall line isn’t great, but it’s worth pointing out that he gave up all three runs in the first inning before settling down over the final five. He’ll get a chance to make one more start before the All-Star break against the Marlins on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm
    • Not starting Thursday
Mountcastle isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game versus Seattle.

Advice: Mountcastle went 1-for-4 with an RBI during his first game back from an illness Wednesday, and he'll now get another day to rest against Bryce Miller and the Mariners. Ryan O'Hearn will move to first base as a result, allowing Heston Kjerstad to serve as the DH. Rotowire.com Today, 10:15 am
    • Return before break not ruled out
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Thursday that Realmuto (knee) is working out at 70-to-75 percent intensity, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Advice: Realmuto is three weeks removed from right meniscus surgery and is progressing nicely. The club is not ruling out a return for their starting catcher prior to the All-Star break if he proves to be ready by then, but it's probably more likely that Realmuto is held out until the start of the second half. • Taking seat Thursday
Varsho is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Varsho started the past four games but will receive Thursday off after going 2-for-14 with a double and eight strikeouts during that stretch. Kevin Kiermaier will start in center field against Houston lefty Framber Valdez. Rotowire.com Today, 8:36 am

    • Senga’s next rehab start will be at Triple-A
Kodai Senga (shoulder) will make his next start at Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Senga threw 2 2/3 perfect innings on Wednesday in a minor league rehab start for High-A Brooklyn, striking out six on the day. He will now start in Triple-A on Tuesday and will throw 50 pitches, according to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza. At this same, Senga would likely need at least two more rehab starts after this one to build up his pitch count enough to return. Rotoworld Today, 8:07 am
