• Secures 21st save
Helsley picked up the save in Friday's 8-5 victory over Colorado. He pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Advice: Helsley handily retired all three batters faced in his third consecutive scoreless outing to gather his league-leading 21st save. The Cardinals closer has been stellar, suffering just one blown save in his 28 total appearances. Overall, the 29-year-old flamethrower sports a 2.25 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 31:6 K:BB in 28 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:02 pm

  • Michael Lorenzen lifted in fifth against Giants
Michael Lorenzen surrendered two runs in 4 1/3 innings versus the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Lorenzen left down 2-0, but the Rangers let him off the hook in the bottom of fifth before going to lose 5-2. It’s the first time in 10 starts this year that Lorenzen has failed to complete five innings and just the second time he hasn’t gone six. He might be booted out of the rotation at some point in the second half if the Rangers ever get completely healthy, but he’s been quite good thus far. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:38 pm
  • Yanked early Friday
Lorenzen yielded two runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out one during the loss to the Giants.

Advice: Despite facing plenty of traffic on the basepaths, both runs allowed by Lorenzen were solo shots by Wilmer Flores. It was Lorenzen's shortest outing of the year and snapped his streak of four straight quality starts entering Friday. Since coughing up six runs against Oakland on May 8, he's registered a 1.50 ERA over his last five starts, lowering his season number to 3.05 through 59 innings. Lorenzen's next start is currently scheduled to be a road matchup with the Dodgers next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:32 pm
  • Ryan Helsley picks up 21st save vs. Rockies
Ryan Helsley converted a save while not allowing a run during Friday’s game against the Rockies.

Advice: Helsley breezed through his inning with a pair of strikeouts and needed just 11 pitches to pick up his 21st save of the season. The right-hander has had a couple scuffles in the first two-plus months of the campaign, but overall there haven’t been many stoppers better in 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:27 pm

  • Records save Thursday
Holmes earned a save against the Twins on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in a scoreless inning.

Advice: Holmes gave up a one-out single after entering the game in the ninth frame, but that's all Minnesota managed against him. The talented closer has held opponents without an earned run in 27 of his 28 appearances this season, resulting in an excellent 1.32 ERA. Holmes ranks third in the majors with 18 saves (in 21 chances) on the campaign. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:08 pm

  • Holmes picks up 18th save against Twins
Clay Holmes tossed a scoreless inning and picked up the save against the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Holmes’ 18th of the season. He has allowed an earned run in only one of 28 appearances this year. Holmes has been fabulous with a 1.32 ERA and 28 strikeouts on the season. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:24 pm

  • First to 20 saves
Helsley earned the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Astros, recording a pair of strikeouts in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Helsley's now delivered back-to-back scoreless innings, striking out four in that span, after allowing four runs in his previous three appearances. The 29-year-old Helsley is now the first in the majors to reach to 20-save mark. His ERA is down to 2.33 with a 1.07 WHIP and 29:6 K:BB across 27 innings this season. • Ryan Helsley nets 20th save Wednesday vs. Astros
Ryan Helsley struck out two in a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Astros to record his major league-leading 20th save of the season.

Advice: There haven’t been a ton of save opportunities recently for Helsley in recent weeks, with just five chances over the last two weeks. However, he’s converted 20 of his 21 save opportunities this season to accompany a sparkling 2.33 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 29/6 K/BB ratio across 27 innings (27 appearances). He got the call to protect a two-run margin in this one and needed just eight pitches (seven strikes) to slam the door. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:31 pm

  • Locks down save
Helsley struck out two without allowing a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

Advice: A flyout allowed the initial runner to advance to third base, but Helsley struck out the next two batters to close this game. It was encouraging to see the 29-year-old have a dominant outing after allowing four runs over his previous three appearances. He's earned a save in eight straight outings despite his recent shakiness, and he still has a 2.42 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:6 K:BB over 26 innings while converting 19 of 20 save chances this season.
