• Tim Anderson (back) starting rehab assignment
Tim Anderson (back) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Anderson hit the injured list earlier this month with lower back tightness and is already on the verge of returning. He could presumably be back early next week, barring something unexpected. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

  • Throws bullpen session
Cole (elbow) threw two simulated innings in the bullpen Saturday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cole has been slowly ramping up his activity over the past few weeks and his next step will likely be facing hitters in live batting practice. The reigning AL Cy Young winner has been out since mid-March while nursing nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow and he's been throwing off a mound since May 4. Pitching coach Matt Blake said after Cole's bullpen session Saturday that the right-hander was clocked throwing in the low 90s, but he is still likely multiple weeks away from making his return. At this rate, Cole's timetable to return looks like it could be mid-to-late June. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

  • Goes deep again Friday
Ward went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-3 win against Texas.

Advice: Ward padded an already large Angels lead with a solo shot in the sixth inning. It was his second homer in his past two contests and gave him an RBI in three straight games. Ward has gone deep nine times through 188 plate appearances this year, putting him on pace so surpass his career-best mark of 23 long balls set two seasons ago. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago
  • Shelby Miller (elbow) resumes throwing
Shelby Miller (elbow) resumed throwing on Friday.

Advice: Miller underwent a hydro dissection procedure earlier this week to help alleviate nerve inflammation in his right elbow. The 33-year-old righty is presumably at least a few weeks away from returning to Detroit’s bullpen mix. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

  • Not starting versus lefty
Baty isn't in the Mets' lineup Saturday versus the Marlins.

Advice: With left-hander Braxton Garrett set to take the mound for Miami, the lefty-hitting Baty will step out of the lineup in favor of Mark Vientos, who will start at third and bat fifth. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

  • Returns to lineup
Nimmo (illness) is starting in left field and batting third Saturday against the Marlins.

Advice: A stomach bug has kept Nimmo from starting the Mets' last two games, but the issue seems to have subsided prior to Saturday's contest. The 31-year-old outfielder has been in a bit of a slump at the plate lately, logging just one hit -- a two-run homer -- in 14 at-bats across his last five games. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

  • Returns Friday
Walker (back) struck out one in a perfect inning to earn a hold in Friday's 10-5 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Walker was dealing with back tightness earlier in the week, but he was able to move past it with the help of Thursday's off day. The right-hander is up to five holds on the year, and he's added a 2.35 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 31:4 K:BB over 23 innings. He continues to be one of the Giants' most versatile relievers, though that doesn't often lead to him in late-inning assignments. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago

  • Steven Kwan (hamstring) takes BP on Friday
Steven Kwan (hamstring) took batting practice on Friday.

Advice: Kwan has resumed baseball activities and is progressing well, according to Guardians manager Stephen Vogt. The 26-year-old contact-oriented outfielder remains without a firm return timetable, but it sounds like he could return to Cleveland’s lineup before the end of the month following a minor league rehab assignment. • Clear to resume baseball activities
Bailey (concussion) was evaluated by Dr. Mickey Collins, a concussion expert in Pittsburgh, and cleared for baseball activities this weekend, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Bailey has been on the 7-day injured list due to the concussion twice in May. The catcher is expected to be evaluated by the Giants next week, so a return is not imminent. Blake Sabol and Curt Casali will continue to share the catching duties until Bailey is activated. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago
