• Rangers outright Jared Walsh to Triple-A
Rangers sent 1B Jared Walsh outright to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: It’s a bit surprising to see the 30-year-old slugger pass through waivers unclaimed, though he hit just .226/.317/.321 with a homer and seven RBI in 60 plate appearances with the Rangers while covering for the injured Nathaniel Lowe. He’ll continue to function as excess depth at Triple-A. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago

  • Blue Jays recall Addison Barger from Triple-A
Blue Jays recalled INF Addison Barger from Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: The 24-year-old is taking the place of the injured Kevin Kiermaier (hip) on the team’s active roster. Barger was off to a terrific start at Triple-A Buffalo, slashing .314/.435/.586 with three homers and 21 RBI through his first 19 games. He’ll add depth and versatility on the Jays’ bench. • Blue Jays place Kevin Kiermaier (hip) on 10-day IL
Blue Jays placed OF Kevin Kiermaier on the 10-day injured list with left hip flexor inflammation.

Advice: Kiermaier suffered the injury during Tuesday’s game against the Royals and he wasn’t feeling much better on Wednesday, so the Blue Jays were forced to place him on the injured list. Addison Barger was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to take his place on the Jays’ active roster. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Ian Gibaut (forearm) resumes rehab assignment
Ian Gibaut (forearm) resumed his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander had been working his way back from a forearm strain that he suffered early in spring training, but he was pulled off of the rehab assignment in mid-April after suffering a minor setback. It’s good to hear that he’s back on the mound and trending in the right direction now though. If all goes according to plan, he could be an option for the Reds in a week or two. • Jhoan Duran to make another rehab outing on Friday
Jhoan Duran (oblique) will make another appearance in a minor league rehab game on Friday.

Advice: Duran looked electric in his first appearance at Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday, despite allowing a pair of runs on four hits. He also struck out three batters, fired 15 of his 27 pitches for strikes and averaged 98.1 mph on his heater. If all goes well with Friday’s outing, he could then be cleared to rejoin the Twins’ bullpen. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

  • A.J. Puk to pitch out of bullpen once healthy
Marlins’ manager Skip Schumaker told reporters on Wednesday that A.J. Puk (shoulder) will work out of the team’s bullpen when he returns from the injured list.

Advice: The 28-year-old left-hander attempted to transition back to the rotation this season, but he wound up making just four starts and compiling a miserable 9.22 ERA, 2.63 WHIP and a 12/17 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings. His already diminished fantasy value will drop down to around zero, unless he can work his way into the closer’s role at some point during the season. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • Framber Valdez expected to return over the weekend
Framber Valdez (elbow) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session without issue on Wednesday and is expected to rejoin the Astros’ rotation over the weekend against the Rockies.

Advice: He’ll start one of the two games against the Rockies in Mexico City, with Ronel Blanco starting the other game. Prior to landing on the injured list, Valdez had posted a 2.19 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a 10/6 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings through his first two starts. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago
  • Miguel Sanó exits with sore left knee on Wednesday
Miguel Sanó was pulled from Wednesday’s contest against the Orioles due to soreness in his left knee.

Advice: The 30-year-old slugger has a history of knee issues, so this is very concerning news. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his status prior to Friday’s series opener against the Twins, as there’s a chance that he could require a trip to the injured list. • Zack Gelof (abdomen) scratched from A’s lineup
Zack Gelof was scratched from the Athletics’ starting lineup on Wednesday night due to left abdominal soreness.

Advice: The dynamic 24-year-old infielder is considered day-to-day. Abraham Toro replaced him in Wednesday’s lineup against the Yankees, batting sixth and playing second base against right-hander Clarke Schmidt. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago
