• Nico Hoerner comes through late in Cubs’ win
Nico Hoerner scored the tying run in the ninth and drove in the go-ahead run in the 11th as the Cubs edged the Diamondbacks 3-2 on Monday.

Advice: Hoerner singled in the ninth, advanced to second on another second and then scored the tying run on a wild pitch, never hesitating as he rounded third. In all, he reached three times tonight, giving him a .371 OBP in spite of a .208 average. The Cubs opted to move Dansby Swanson up in the lineup, rather than Hoerner, with Seiya Suzuki going on the IL, but maybe they’ll reconsider. Swanson went 0-for-5 tonight, leaving him with a .303 OBP, and he’s not the difference-maker on the basepaths than Hoerner can be. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

  • CJ Abrams homers, doubles to lead Nationals
CJ Abrams collected his fourth homer and his third double in the Nationals’ 6-4 defeat of the Dodgers on Monday.

Advice: It was reasonable to question whether Abrams would improve on last year’s total of 18 homers or perhaps regress there some, given his modest exit velocity numbers, but he’s hitting the ball harder this year and getting results. OBP still might be a question going forward, but he figures to remain very valuable for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

  • Jackson Merrill sparks Padres to win over Brewers
Jackson Merrill went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one stolen base on Monday, leading the Padres to a 7-3 victory over the Brewers.

Advice: Merrill served as San Diego’s primary offensive catalyst in this one, extending their lead to a commanding three-run margin with a two-run single off Brewers starter Joe Ross in the fifth inning as part of a three-hit effort. The 20-year-old top prospect has gotten off to a sublime start this season, batting .356 (21-for-59) with 12 runs scored, one homer, seven RBI and three steals across 19 games. • Steals second base
Bichette went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's win over the Yankees.

Advice: After swiping his first base Friday night against Colorado, Bichette quickly added his second steal Monday against the Yankees. The Toronto shortstop only stole five bases in 2023, so it's possible he is looking to return to his running ways when he stole 38 bases from 2021 to 2022. Bichette's first 65 plate appearances have been rough so far as he's slashing .217/.277/.333. Rotowire.com Today, 7:40 pm

  • Francisco Lindor tallies two hits in Mets’ victory
Francisco Lindor went 2-for-4 with a walk on Monday in the Mets’ 6-3 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Lindor continues to slowly snap out of an early-season spiral at the plate with his second straight multi-hit performance and has notched at least one hit in six of his last eight contests since April 7. It’s going to take awhile for the 30-year-old superstar shortstop’s surface stats to rebound, but it’s a relief for fantasy managers that he’s starting to show signs of life at the dish again after a tough two-week stretch at the outset of the year. • Gunnar Henderson hits 411-foot homer Monday
Gunnar Henderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Twins on Monday.

Advice: From the broadcast, it looked like Henderson’s homer reached Eutaw Street, so the reigning AL Rookie of the Year may have another plaque coming soon. The 22-year-old has racked up at least one RBI in four of his past five games and has multiple hits in back-to-back contests. Rotoworld Today, 6:49 pm

  • Anthony Volpe collects sixth steal in loss
Anthony Volpe singled and stole a base on Monday in the Yankees’ loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: New York’s lineup mustered just four hits combined against Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt and a trio of relievers, who didn’t allow a baserunner over the final 2 2/3 frames. Volpe notched his sixth stolen base of the season and is batting .373 (22-for-59) with two homers, eight RBI and six steals through 16 contests. Rotoworld Today, 6:41 pm

  • Draws start Monday
Trejo is starting at second base and batting ninth for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: Elehuris Montero was initially slated to start Monday, but was a late scratch with Trejo taking his place. Trejo is 0-for-6 with one strikeout to start the season. Rotowire.com Today, 3:35 pm

  • Begins taking dry swings
Edman (wrist) was scheduled to begin taking dry swings Monday and is expected to advance to tee work Tuesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: His recovery from offseason surgery on his right wrist has put Edman on the shelf to begin the 2024 campaign, but he recently received clearance to begin ramping up his activity. While he's still in the early stages, Edman will at least start taking some cuts and making contact with baseballs beginning Tuesday. The 28-year-old should play close to every day for St. Louis once healthy after exceeding 500 plate appearances each of the last three years. Rotowire.com Today, 3:27 pm
