    • Finally goes yard
Acuna went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Astros.

Advice: It took 17 games, but last year's NL MVP finally went deep in 2024, as Acuna got hold of a J.P. France sweeper to lead off the fifth inning and launched it 422 feet to straightaway center field. Despite the slow start in the power department, the 26-year-old has still been very productive from a fantasy perspective, slashing .294/.400/.397 with six RBI, eight steals and 17 runs scored -- third in the Senior Circuit behind Mookie Betts (22) and Ketel Marte (20). • Control wavers Wednesday
Fried came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Astros, giving up three runs on seven hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out two.

Advice: The southpaw also uncorked a wild pitch and tossed only 52 of his 96 pitches for strikes, continuing a somewhat shaky start to the season. Fried has managed only one quality start in his four trips to the mound, and while his 7.71 ERA and 1.96 WHIP will come down, his 12:9 K:BB through 16.1 innings has been far from dominant. He'll try to get on track in his next outing, which lines up for a home start against the Marlins early next week. Rotowire.com Today, 6:25 am
    • Covers first base
Steer started at first base for an unavailable Christian Encarnacion-Strand (illness) in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to Seattle. He went 0-for-3.

Advice: Steer was one of eight Reds in the order to go hitless against Mariner pitching. Elly De La Cruz's second-inning home run off Bryce Miller was the lone offense mustered by Cincinnati. Reds manager David Bell wasn't specific on Encarnacion-Strand's symptoms but mentioned he hadn't been feeling well ahead of the series in Seattle. Steer is 1-for-14 over the last four games. • Enters as pinch hitter
Moreno (thumb) entered Wednesday's game in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter and went 0-for-1 in a 5-3 loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Moreno was scratched from the lineup the last two games due to the injury. That he pinch hit for his replacement, Tucker Barnhart, and could have entered the game had Arizona tied it up in the ninth, suggests manager Torey Lovullo was comfortable with the thought of Moreno catching. He could rejoin the starting nine Thursday in San Francisco. Rotowire.com Today, 5:04 am
    • Strikes out six in no-decision
Skubal allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits across 6.1 innings and did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Rangers. He walked one and struck out six.

Advice: Skubal has now given up two earned runs or fewer in three of his four starts this season, which has allowed him to post a stellar 2.28 ERA. The lefty also has 26 strikeouts across 23.2 innings, and his overall body of work makes him a very strong fantasy asset moving forward. Skubal is projected to take the mound again on Monday against the Rays, and he should be locked into lineups no matter the opponent, as he appears to be fairly matchup-proof at this point. • Ronald Acuña Jr. hits first homer in Braves’ win
Ronald Acuña Jr. went 2-for-5 and finally hit his first homer Wednesday as the Braves bested the Astros 5-4 in 10 innings.

Advice: Acuña’s first homer was a 422-foot blast off J.P. France. It was one of two balls he hit 109 mph today, with the other resulting in an error in the third inning. The homer came in his 17th game of the season. His longest homerless drought last year was 14 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:56 pm
    • Max Fried surrenders three runs to Astros
Max Fried yielded three runs in five innings Wednesday against the Astros.

Advice: Fried wasn’t at his sharpest today in walking four and allowing seven hits, including a homer to Yordan Alvarez. He struck out just two. Fried was quite good last time out against the Marlins, but he has a 7.71 ERA and a 14/8 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings total in his four starts. We assume he’ll get better, but this isn’t the Fried of old right now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:56 pm
    • Tarik Skubal pitches into seventh in no-decision
Tarik Skubal was uninvolved in the decision after allowing four runs — two earned — in 6 1/3 innings Wednesday against the Rangers.

Advice: He struck out six and walked one. Skubal was fortunate that a pair of flyballs that would have been homers in the majority of ballparks turned into a double and an out in Comerica. He has a 2.28 ERA and a 26/5 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings in his four starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:23 pm
    • Scratched from lineup again
Moreno (thumb) was scratched from the Diamondbacks' lineup ahead of Wednesday's contest against the Cubs, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Moreno had been slated to rejoin the lineup after not starting in Tuesday's 12-11 extra-inning win due to a right thumb contusion, but he's been scratched for the second day in a row. He entered Tuesday's contest as a defensive replacement, but evidently swinging a bat still remains an issue. Consider the catcher day-to-day for the time being. Tucker Barnhart will once again fill in behind the plate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:58 am
