    Advice: Smith has been out of action since near the end of April while dealing with inflammation in his right shoulder. The 30-year-old should work in high-leverage now that he’s back with the Mets. The Mets optioned Josh Walker back to Triple-A Syracuse to make room for Smith on the roster.     Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Brasier (calf) remains "a ways out" from returning to action, per MLB.com.

    Advice: Brasier landed on the IL with a strained right calf in late April. A subsequent MRI revealed that the injury is mild, and the righty reliever has resumed playing catch.     Pirates recalled RHP Quinn Priester from Triple-A Indianapolis.

    Advice: Priester will get the ball as expected to take the rotation spot of Martin Perez, with Perez on the injured list due to a groin strain. Priester has registered a 4.33 ERA and 17/10 K/BB over his 27 innings across five starts.     Marlins recalled RHP Emmanuel Ramirez from Triple-A Jacksonville.

    Advice: Ramirez will take the place of Sixto Sánchez (shoulder) after he was placed on the 15-day injured list.     Ohtani has reached 80 mph during his throwing program, per MLB.com.

    Advice: Ohtani has been throwing since late March, though it's not clear if he's pitched from beyond 60 feet yet. The two-way star won't see any game action as a pitcher this season, so it's logical that the Dodgers will be very cautious in managing his throwing progression. Though he's working only as a batter this season, Ohtani is once again in the MVP discussion with a .326/.395/.604 slash line, 14 home runs, 38 RBI, 41 runs and 14 stolen bases through 57 games.     Advice: Sánchez left Friday’s start after four-plus innings despite giving up just one run, and this appears to explain why. The right-hander has dealt with injuries throughout his short MLB career, and unfortunately he’ll need at least two weeks — likely more — before rejoining the Miami rotation.
