• DFA'd by Arizona
The Diamondbacks designated Peterson for assignment Friday.

Advice: Peterson was unable to make the most of his opportunities after shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (knee) was placed on the 10-day IL on April 7. Peterson hasn't recorded a hit since April 5, and he has reached base just four times over 26 plate appearances this season. In a corresponding move, the Diamondbacks recalled Pavin Smith from Triple-A Reno. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago

  • Diamondbacks DFA veteran Jace Peterson on Friday
Diamondbacks designated INF Jace Peterson for assignment.

Advice: With Pavin Smith and Jordan Montgomery joining the big league roster on Friday, someone needed to get the boot from the active roster and unfortunately Peterson drew the short straw this time around. The versatile 33-year-old was just 1-for-22 (.045) with six strikeouts in his time with the Diamondbacks. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • Not in Friday's lineup
Ortiz is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: It's the second straight game on the bench for Ortiz, who started the previous three contests. Oliver Dunn will step in at third base for Milwaukee as the pair continue to split playing time at the hot corner. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago

  • Recalled from Triple-A
Monasterio was recalled from Triple-A Nashville by the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Monasterio was hitless in seven at-bats earlier this season with the Brewers and went 5-for-12 during his time at Nashville. He will provide Milwaukee with infield depth. Rotowire.com Today, 1:39 pm

  • Rafael Devers (knee) remains out of Red Sox lineup
Rafael Devers (knee) remains out of the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the Pirates.

Advice: Devers was diagnosed with a bone bruise on his left knee on Thursday after undergoing a precautionary MRI exam. He’s expected to need a couple of additional days off, but isn’t likely to land on the injured list at this time. Bobby Dalbec will start in his place at the hot corner on Friday and will bat seventh against Pirates’ right-hander Quinn Priester. Rotoworld Today, 1:31 pm

  • Brewers recall Andruw Monasterio from Triple-A
Brewers recalled INF Andrew Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: With Jake Bauers landing on the bereavement list on Friday, the Brewers needed some extra depth on their bench for the weekend, so Monasterio will rejoin the Brewers after being optioned out to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. Monasterio is 0-for-7 with a pair of runs scored in his limited action with the Brewers this season. Rotoworld Today, 1:22 pm

  • Hit in loss
Lopez went 1-for-2 in a 2-1 win over Kansas City on Wednesday.

Advice: It's been a difficult start to the season for the 29-year-old, as Lopez's slash line sits at .167/.255/.167. While he does have two hits over the last five games, the infielder has yet to tally an extra-base hit and he's been a liability on the base paths during the rare occasion that he's gotten on base, having been thrown out four times this season. The six-year veteran signed a one-year, $4.3 million contract with the White Sox this offseason, but given the team's dreary record, it wouldn't be surprising to see Lopez get ample opportunities to find his way out of this rut. • RBI double in win
Flores went 1-for-1 with a RBI double in the 5-0 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Advice: Flores entered in the eighth inning with the bases loaded and immediately smacked a two-run double, which accounted for only his third extra-base hit of the new campaign. While the veteran has been on the short side of the platoon with LaMonte Wade at first base, the Giants have found a way to get Flores' bat in the lineup situationally throughout most of the season. The 32-year-old has yet to tally a home run in the 2024 campaign, but given his slugging percentage (.311) is woefully below his career norms, the power could be returning in short order. • RBI in loss
Farmer went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the 4-2 loss to the Orioles on Wednesday.

Advice: Farmer has played in six games since Carlos Correa injured his oblique bouncing between third and shortstop over the past week. While the Twins have said the All-Star's injury is relatively minor, his return status remains unclear, which should open up opportunities for Farmer to get more at-bats. A lifetime .252 hitter, there's bound to be a bit of positive regression to the mean with the veteran averaging .097 across 38 at-bats this season. Rotowire.com Today, 1:08 pm
