    • Ranger Suárez (thumb) feels much improved Sunday
      Ranger Suárez (thumb) reported feeling much improved on Sunday and there’s optimism from the team that he’ll be able to make his next scheduled start.

      Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw was lifted from Saturday’s start after he was hit on his pitching hand by a comebacker, but the swelling went way down overnight and he’s feeling much better already. Phillies’ skipper Rob Thomson said they’ll wait a day or two before he attempts to throw, but it sounds like he’ll be able to take the hill as planned against the Mets in London next weekend.       Raisel Iglesias pitched a clean ninth inning on Sunday against the Athletics to earn the save.

      Advice: Iglesias grabbed another save, but once again did not strike a batter out. His 18.6 K% entering play Sunday is by far the lowest for any reliever with at least 10 saves and should give some concern moving forward. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

      Jake Irvin allowed two earned runs across six innings on Sunday as the Nationals defeated the Guardians 5-2. He struck out six, walked one, and earned the victory.

      Advice: Irvin’s strong season continued Sunday as he stifled the red-hot Guardians. He gave Cleveland a steady diet of curveballs in the strike zone - the pitch had a 73% zone rate - to which they let nine go by for called strikes and swung and missed at six more for a 38% CSW. Irvin has leaned on that curveball as his primary pitch for most of the season and it’s turned him into a very useful starter with a 3.39 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 69 innings.       Moore is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

      Advice: Moore will take a seat in the series finale after he went 1-for-14 with eight strikeouts while starting each of the past four games at either second base or third base. While he remains in the mix for steady playing at the keystone with Jorge Polanco (hamstring) on the injured list, Moore looks to be slowing down at the plate after a hot run over the first three weeks of May. Dating back to May 23, Moore is slashing .103/.297/.138 over a stretch of nine games. If Moore's struggles continue, Ryan Bliss could end up unseating him as the preferred option at second base.       Ohtani has reached 80 mph during his throwing program, per MLB.com.

      Advice: Ohtani has been throwing since late March, though it's not clear if he's pitched from beyond 60 feet yet. The two-way star won't see any game action as a pitcher this season, so it's logical that the Dodgers will be very cautious in managing his throwing progression. Though he's working only as a batter this season, Ohtani is once again in the MVP discussion with a .326/.395/.604 slash line, 14 home runs, 38 RBI, 41 runs and 14 stolen bases through 57 games.       Olson (1-6) took the loss Saturday as the Tigers fell 6-3 to the Red Sox, giving up five runs on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: He was able to handle most of Boston's lineup, but Enmanuel Valdez proved to be his kryptonite, smacking a double and two homers off Olson. The right-hander had gone eight straight outings without allowing more than two earned runs heading into Saturday, and despite the stumble Olson will take a 2.48 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 52:20 K:BB through 61.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Brewers.       Advice: Ohtani had gone seven games without a steal, and he hit just .167 (5-for-30) over that span. That's a rare cold spell for one of baseball's best players, who continues to do it all out of the No. 2 hole for the Dodgers.       X-rays on the injured thumb of Phillies’ left-hander Ranger Suárez came back negative for any fractures on Saturday.

      Advice: Phillies’ skipper Rob Thomson told reporters that Suárez is still dealing with some swelling in his thumb but that the team feels fortunate to have dodged any serious injuries. He’s slated to take the mound against the Mets next weekend in London, but it’s still unclear whether or not he’ll be able to take the hill.
