    • Corey Seager diagnosed with left shin contusion
The Rangers announced that Corey Seager left Wednesday’s game with a left shin contusion.

Advice: Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief now. Seager was drilled in the shin by a pitch during the seventh inning of Wednesday’s battle against the Mariners, but it sounds like he was fortunate to avoid any structural damage. He’ll be sore for a couple of days, but it shouldn’t be anything that will keep Seager out of the Rangers’ lineup for long. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:53 pm

    • Exits with bruised shin
Seager was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mariners due to a left shin contusion, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Seager remained in the game to run the bases after taking a pitch off his shin in the seventh inning, but he was replaced on defense prior to the eighth. His ability to remain in the game immediately after getting hit suggests his injury is relatively minor, though it's still possible the Rangers sit him down for Thursday's series finale. The 29-year-old infielder went 0-for-2 with a walk before being pulled Wednesday and is now slashing .192/.276/.192 across his last seven games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:50 pm

    • Corey Seager leaves game after hit by pitch (shin)
Corey Seager was pulled from Wednesday’s contest against the Mariners after being hit on the shin by a pitch during the seventh inning.

Advice: The superstar shortstop remained in the game initially to run the bases for himself but was ultimately lifted when the Rangers took the field. It’s likely that he’ll undergo some precautionary X-rays to rule out any fractures. Hopefully it’s just a bruise and he’ll be considered day-to-day. Expect Rangers’ skipper Bruce Bochy to provide an update as soon as more information is available. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 pm

    • Max Scherzer gives up three runs in rehab start
Max Scherzer looked a bit rusty in his first minor league rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits over 2 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 39-year-old right-hander struck out four batters in the contest and didn’t issue a base on balls. Two of the three runs scored against him came on solo home runs — off the bats of Jason Martin and Cole Tucker. Scherzer threw a total of 52 pitches in the ballgame, 32 of those for strikes. All that really matters is that he made it through the start healthy. He’s going to need at least one additional rehab start, but if things go well in that outing he could then be cleared to join the Rangers’ rotation in early May. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:33 pm

    • Jack Flaherty strikes out six in no-decision
Jack Flaherty had mixed results in a no-decision against the Rays on Wednesday, giving up four runs on seven hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: On the plus side, Flaherty racked up six strikeouts on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. He served up a solo homer to Randy Arozarena in the first inning, then the Rays broke through for three runs in the second — though a couple of those runs could have been unearned if not for a questionable scorer’s decision. Flaherty piled up 15 swings and misses on the night and posted a strong CSW of 31 percent. He still holds an uninspiring 4.91 ERA on the season and hasn’t won a game, but he does have a sparkling 1.16 WHIP and a 36/4 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings. His luck should start to even out when he takes on his former team, the Cardinals, at home on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:13 pm
    • Run bases Wednesday
Albies (toe) took part in baserunning as part of a workout prior to Atlanta's game against the Marlins on Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Albies continues to trend in a positive direction in his recovery from a fractured right big toe, which he sustained April 16. The second baseman had already participated in fielding drills and resumed swinging a bat in recent days, and being able to run the bases is another sign that he's no longer inhibited by the injury. Albies is first eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Friday, and he appears on track to play this weekend versus the Guardians if he avoids any setbacks coming out of Wednesday's workout. • Mike Trout first to reach 10 homers this season
Mike Trout became the first major leaguer to reach 10 homers this season when he took the Orioles’ Dean Kremer deep on Wednesday.

Advice: Trout’s 10th homer came in his 25th game. He still has just 13 RBI, since he’s not hitting singles (.237 average) and he’s especially not hitting with men on base. Things don’t figure to get much better there if the Angels leave him in the leadoff spot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:17 pm
    • Confirmed for first rehab start
The Rangers announced that Scherzer (back) will make his first minor-league rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Texas' decision to place Scherzer on the 15-day injured list rather than the 60-day IL coming out of spring training was the first hint that the veteran righty was making a speedier-than-expected recovery from his Dec. 15 surgery to address a herniated disc in his back, and he appears to have faced no setbacks while advancing through his throwing progression during the first month of the regular season. Scherzer will now move on to the final phase of his ramp-up program by heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment, which will likely consist of at least two appearances with Round Rock or another affiliate. According to the Associated Press, manager Bruce Bochy said Scherzer is expected to throw about 50 pitches in Wednesday's outing after he tossed a 40-pitch simulated game this past Friday. • Rangers send Max Scherzer on rehab assignment
Rangers sent Max Scherzer (back) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: The 39-year-old veteran will get the start on Wednesday and hopes to throw at least 50 pitches. Scherzer, who has been on the injured list since the start of the regular season, hopes to make a return in sometime in May after he underwent back surgery in the offseason.
