    • Next step could be rehab stint
Kershaw (shoulder) completed three simulated innings at Dodger Stadium on Thursday, and he could be ready to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga during the upcoming week, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Kershaw's fastball hit 88-89 mph in the sim game, per Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, which is in the range of his usual velocity over the past three seasons. Manager Dave Roberts proclaimed the future Hall of Famer to be "much further" along in his recovery than initially expected. Kershaw will almost certainly need to log multiple rehab starts, and the Dodgers are very unlikely to rush him back, but the southpaw could be ready to make his season debut sometime in July. • Strikes out 11 in win
Bradley (2-4) earned the win against the Cubs on Thursday, allowing two (unearned) runs on three hits and two walks with 11 strikeouts over seven innings.

Advice: Bradley was dominant other than the fifth inning, when the Cubs scored two unearned runs on back-to-back bunts. This was arguably the best start of Bradley's young career, as he registered 17 swinging strikes on 104 pitches and tied a career-high with 11 strikeouts. While Bradley has been up-and-down in 2024, Thursday's effort showed his immense potential when he has his best stuff. On the season, he owns a 4.23 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 50:12 K:BB in 38.1 innings, and he tentatively lines up to face the Twins next week. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:54 pm

    • Taj Bradley strikes out 11 in victory over Cubs
Taj Bradley matched a career-high with 11 strikeouts and allowed two runs (zero earned) over seven innings on Thursday in a win over the Cubs.

Advice: Bradley gave up three hits, walked two over seven frames to pick up his second of the season through seven starts. His previous season-high for strikeouts was 10, but he also allowed five runs in that start. While Bradley’s ERA is 4.23 this year, his xFIP is significantly lower at 3.10. There should be more starts like this in his future. The 23-year-old right-hander is set to face the Twins on the road next week. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:13 pm

    • Pitching final sim game
Kershaw (shoulder) will throw a three-inning simulated game Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Kershaw most recently tossed a two-inning simulated game with the Dodgers' Single-A affiliate in Rancho Cucamonga on June 7, with reports suggesting that his fastball touched 90 miles per hour in the outing. He'll increase his workload in Thursday's simulated game, which will be his last before he begins what will likely be a multi-start minor-league rehab assignment, according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. • Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) throws another sim game
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw a three-inning simulated game on Thursday at Dodgers Stadium.

Advice: Kershaw, who is in the final stages of his rehabilitation from offseason shoulder surgery, appears poised to embark on a minor league rehab assignment at some point next week and could be ready to jump back into the Dodgers’ starting rotation following next month’s All-Star break. • Bumped back to Friday
Castillo's next start has been pushed back a day to Friday against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: The Mariners have just one off day over the next two weeks and one member of their rotation, Bryan Woo (forearm), who is banged up, so the team will use this as an opportunity to give their regular starters some rest. Emerson Hancock will draw the start Thursday versus the White Sox while everyone else gets bumped back. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:18 am

    • Collects another win
Suarez (4-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the A's, giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning and striking out one.

Advice: For the second straight game, Suarez benefited from a Padres walk-off homer, with Wednesday's coming off the bat of Jackson Merrill. The right-hander has been tagged for a run in only one of his 26 appearances since the beginning of April, and on the season Suarez sports a sparkling 0.61 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB through 29.1 innings. • Hit with first loss
Miller (1-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up a solo home run in one-third of an inning as the A's fell 5-4 to the Padres.

Advice: With one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Jackson Merrill drove the first pitch he saw from Miller down the right-field line for a walk-off homer. The Oakland closer may be wearing down -- over his last eight appearances he's served up three long balls and been scored upon four times, leading to a 5.59 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through 9.2 innings during that stretch. • Records save No. 22
Helsley allowed one hit and struck out one batter over a scoreless inning to earn a save against the Pirates on Wednesday.

Advice: Helsley had a rough outing Tuesday against Pittsburgh, giving up two runs over one frame to take the loss. He was right back on the mound the next day and bounced back nicely, working around a leadoff single to finish off the victory. Helsley has converted 22 straight save chances since blowing a save in his first opportunity of the campaign, and the 22 saves overall leads all major-league pitchers. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:34 pm
