• Civale solid in loss to Nationals Saturday
Aaron Civale allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Civale gave up six hits, walked four and struck out two. CJ Abrams homered to start the game, but Civale was pretty solid after that. He’s actually been quite a bit better than his 5.07 ERA on the season suggests given his 4.06 xFIP. Civale could be a decent buy low candidate. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rangers on the road next week.

  • Nestor Cortes gives up three runs in loss to Jays
Nestor Cortes allowed three runs with five strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: The Blue Jays got to Cortes right away as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. took him deep for a two-run homer in the first inning. Alejandro Kirk drove in a third run with a double in the fourth inning. Cortes put runners on the corners with one out in the fifth before his day was done at 87 pitches. He struck out five. The 29-year-old southpaw will take a 3.51 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 98/19 K/BB ratio across 105 innings into a start against the Red Sox in New York on Friday. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:02 pm
  • DFA'd by Cleveland
The Guardians designated Kent (elbow) for assignment Saturday.

Advice: Kent has been on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Columbus since April 19 due to a right elbow strain. He pitched five scoreless innings across his three outings in the minors this season, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out eight. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:56 am

  • Guardians designate Zak Kent for assignment
Guardians designated RHP Zak Kent for assignment.

Advice: Kent has been removed from Cleveland’s 40-man roster to make room for newly-signed lefty Matthew Boyd. The 26-year-old was picked up back in March in a small trade with the Rangers and hasn’t made an appearance for the Guardians yet. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:42 am

  • Poor in no-decision
Cecconi allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over four innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.

Advice: Cecconi pitched six times in June, but he completed five innings just once. While he had just one truly awful start in that span, he allowed a total of 15 runs over 25 innings, albeit with a tantalizing 26:3 K:BB. Cecconi is at a 5.81 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 48:11 K:BB through 57.1 innings over 12 appearances (11 starts). He's tentatively projected for a road start versus the Dodgers next week. • Slade Cecconi gives up three over four vs. A’s
Slade Cecconi gave up three runs in four innings with seven strikeouts against the A’s on Friday while picking up no decision.

Advice: Cecconi was able to strike out seven, but it’s another mediocre outing in a year where the 25-year-old has had plenty of them. The 25-year-old allowed two runs in the third and another in the fourth before being pulled, and Cecconi’s ERA is now at 5.81 for the season. He absolutely should not be considered as a streaming option for Thursday’s scheduled bout against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Friday, 10:19 pm
  • X-rays negative
X-rays on Vasquez's right forearm came back negative after he was removed from Friday's game versus Boston, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: A 98-mph line drive off the bat of Ceddanne Rafaela struck Vasquez's arm in the fifth inning, forcing him to leave the game after four-plus innings of one-run ball. The 25-year-old said after the game that he's dealing with a bit of swelling, but he seemed optimistic about his chances to make his next start. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:59 pm

  • Randy Vásquez diagnosed with forearm contusion
Randy Vásquez was diagnosed with right forearm contusion after being hit by a line drive during Friday night’s start against the Red Sox.

Advice: Fortunately, it sounds like the 25-year-old hurler was able to avoid any serious injury after being struck by a Ceddanne Rafaela line drive to open the fifth inning on Friday. Unfortunately, his early exit from the game did cost him a victory. He should be able to make his next scheduled turn in the Padres’ rotation on Thursday against the Rangers in Texas. • Struck by comebacker, exits early
Vasquez was removed from his start Friday against the Red Sox after getting hit in the right forearm by a comebacker, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Vasquez took a 98 mph line drive off his forearm during the fifth inning of Friday's contest, and he was taken out of the game after conferring with a trainer. He'll be sent for imaging, and the Padres should have an update on the severity of his injury in the near future. The 25-year-old righty had allowed one earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out one batter over four innings before being taken out of the game. Rotowire.com Friday, 6:17 pm
