    • Hits second homer
Arraez went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 9-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Arraez entered Friday with just four hits over his last six games, an unusual lack of production for the contact-heavy infielder. He made an impact with his lone knock Friday, sparking the Padres' comeback with a fifth-inning blast. Over 76 games between the Padres and the Marlins this year, he's slashing .314/.349/.385 with two homers, 21 RBI, 43 runs scored, 15 doubles, a triple and three stolen bases. He's the only player in the majors with over 100 hits so far in 2024, but that's led to his usual empty batting average, as he offers little in the way of power or speed and won't generate many RBI as a leadoff hitter. • Luis Arraez golfs out homer in win over Brewers
Luis Arraez hit a two-run homer against the Brewers on Friday in a win for the Padres.

Advice: Arraez is not known for his power, but the 27-year-old was able to golf out a pitch down and in for his second homer of the season. The second baseman has hit .324 since being traded to San Diego with 16 RBI and three stolen bases in five attempts over 185 at-bats. Rotoworld Friday, 10:00 pm

    • Homers, extends hitting streak
Diaz went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: Diaz collected two hits, including his fifth homer of the season, to extend his hitting streak to 13 games and his on-base streak to 22 games. He's batting .351 over the course of the hit streak, though he has just one home run, one double, four RBI and six runs scored to show for his efforts. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:15 pm

    • Yandy Diaz homers as Rays defeat Twins in 10
Yandy Diaz hit a two-run homer and doubled in an extra-inning loss to the Rays on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz absolutely clobbered a two-run homer that went an estimated 439 feet to extend the Rays’ lead to 6-2 in the ninth. It turns out the Rays would need those runs, as Minnesota scored four to tie it in the bottom half of the frame. Diaz is starting to heat up again, and he’s been much better than the .264/.327/.368 slash suggests after his slow start. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:30 pm

    • Shifts to 60-day IL
The Yankees transferred Rizzo (forearm) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

Advice: The veteran first baseman is expected to be sidelined eight weeks after he landed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a fractured right forearm, so the move to the 60-day IL doesn't come as a major surprise. Rizzo will be shut down from baseball activities for up to five weeks. Gerrit Cole (elbow) was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding transaction and is making his season debut Wednesday against the Orioles. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:23 pm

    • Yankees transfer Anthony Rizzo to 60-day IL
Yankees transferred 1B Anthony Rizzo to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The Yankees needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for the return of Gerrit Cole on Wednesday, and the easiest move was to shift Rizzo to the 60-day IL. The 34-year-old is dealing with a right forearm fracture and is expected to be sidelined for the next two months. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:18 pm

    • Sidelined for eight weeks
The Yankees placed Rizzo on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right forearm fracture.

Advice: Per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, Rizzo will be shut down from all activities for up to five weeks, and it will be eight weeks until he's ready to play in games. Ben Rice is up to take his roster spot and is starting at first base Tuesday against the Orioles in his major-league debut. The Yankees also figure to use DJ LeMahieu at first base and Oswaldo Cabrera at third base some days while Rizzo is shelved. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:43 pm

    • Anthony Rizzo heads to IL with forearm fracture
Yankees placed 1B Anthony Rizzo on the 10-day injured list with a right forearm fracture.

Advice: Rizzo is expected to miss roughly two months after suffering a fracture in his right forearm last weekend during a first-base collision. The 34-year-old veteran first baseman hasn’t made much of an offensive impact, but he remains an excellent defender at the cold corner, which is where his loss will be felt the most over the next few weeks. There’s a chance he’s back at some point in mid-August. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:21 pm

    • Shut down for multiple weeks
Rizzo (arm) said Tuesday that he will be shut down from all baseball activities for 4-5 weeks, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: When it was revealed Monday that Rizzo is dealing with a fracture to the radial neck of his right arm, the initial timetable of up to six weeks was provided. However, this latest report suggests a six-week absence could be a worst-case scenario. For his part, Rizzo said Tuesday he expects to play again this season. Ben Rice will be called up to take his spot on the Yankees' active roster. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:53 pm
