    • Brenton Doyle homers twice to lead Rockies
Brenton Doyle homered twice, doubled and walked Monday as the Rockies edged the Brewers 8-7 in 10 innings.

Advice: Doyle’s second homer tied the game in the bottom of the eighth. The center fielder was dropped from second to seventh in the Rockies lineup before the game, presumably because he’d hit .200/.225/.292 in his previous 16 games. The two homers gave him nine or the year, and he also swiped his 20th base. We’re not big believers in Doyle’s offense from an OPS standpoint, but with Coors Field helping him along, he likely will have lasting value in mixed leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Nolan Jones collects two hits in Rockies’ win
Nolan Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk versus the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: The second hit also would have been at least a double, but it hit first base umpire Brian O’Nora on its way down the first base line, resulting in a single. Jones has had issues with strikeouts since coming off the IL last month, but he’s hitting the ball harder than he did in April and drawing a bunch of walks (12 in 15 games). He should prove pretty useful in mixed leagues the rest of the way. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Cracks 10th homer
Contreras went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Monday's loss at Colorado.

Advice: The 26-year-old drew the start at designated hitter and reached double-digit homers for the third consecutive season with a solo shot off Austin Gomber. Contreras also collected his team-leading 20th double of the season. Overall, the Milwaukee star is now slashing .296/.355/.451 with 51 RBI and 59 runs scored across 369 plate appearances. • Monster performance in win
Doyle went 3-for-4 with two homers, a steal, three RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 8-7 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Doyle opened the game's scoring when he blasted a mammoth 445-foot, two-run homer off Bryse Wilson in the second. The Colorado center fielder then cracked a solo shot in the eighth to tie the game at 7-7. Doyle also added his 20th stolen base of the season when he nabbed second in the fourth inning. After a rough .203 batting average in his rookie year, the 26-year-old sophomore has become a steady producer in 2024, now hitting .260 with nine homers, 48 runs scored and 30 RBI. • Brenton Doyle dropped to seventh in Rockies lineup
Brenton Doyle has been dropped to seventh in the Rockies lineup on Monday.

Advice: Doyle last hit lower than second on June 10, but this seems appropriate. Doyle has batted just .200/.225/.292 since that date. The Rockies have moved everyone who was batting below Doyle up one spot tonight, with Ezequiel Tovar reclaiming the second spot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:41 pm

    • Reinstated from paternity leave
The Orioles activated Burnes (personal) from the paternity list Monday.

Advice: Burnes was away from the club for the final three games of its weekend series against the Rangers while tending to more important family matters. He's tentatively slated to make his next start Wednesday in Seattle, though that hasn't yet been confirmed. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:41 am
    • Wraps up huge June with three hits
Merrill went 3-for-4 with a double and a run in Sunday's loss to Boston.

Advice: Merrill was the only Padre to notch multiple hits in the contest, and he scored the team's only run after belting a one-out double in the seventh inning. The rookie finished June with back-to-back three-hit games, with half of his knocks during the pair of contests going for extra bases. Merrill swung a hot bat for most of the month, and he finished June with a .320/.346/.650 slash line along with nine home runs, 20 RBI, 17 runs and two stolen bases. • Rosenthal: Tanner Scott “is a popular name”
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal said “Tanner Scott is a popular name on the trade market” and “the Marlins are virtually certain to trade” him at the deadline.

Advice: Rosenthal reported that “the Miami Marlins want a lot for their left-handed closer,” but they do expect to get it; however, it’s expected that Scott will not take over a closer’s role if he were traded to a contender. His strikeout-to-walk rate is at a career-low level and that command may keep him in a high-leverage shared role, facing mainly left-handed hitters. Rosenthal mentioned the Yankees, Orioles, and Phillies as contending teams that are expressing interest in adding Scott to their bullpen mix. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:05 am
    • Closing in on obscure record
India went 1-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 2-0 loss to St. Louis.

Advice: India ripped a third-inning double, the eighth consecutive game with a two-bagger for the second baseman. That's a franchise record and one off the MLB record of nine, set by Toronto's Bo Bichette in 2019. The double also extended a hit streak to 12 games, during which India is batting .489 (22-for-45) with 12 doubles, a home run, six RBI, two steals and 10 additional runs scored.
