    • Moves up to three spot
Merrill will start in center field and bat third in Thursday's game versus the Rangers.

Advice: Merrill had one start out of the leadoff spot back in mid-April and batted fifth a couple times last month, but this will be his first-ever start from the third spot in the Padres' batting order. The rookie outfielder has earned the assignment by slashing a robust .352/.380/.727 with nine home runs, 21 RBI and two stolen bases over his last 23 games. Jake Cronenworth has typically hit third since Fernando Tatis (quad) went down and he has a day off Thursday, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Merrill receive more opportunities from the middle of the San Diego batting order. • Jackson Merrill hitting 3rd for Padres
Jackson Merrill is starting in center field and batting third for the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: This is Merrill’s first start as a three-hole hitter and it’s certainly earned after he hit .320/.346/.650 in June with nine home runs, 17 runs, 20 RBI, and two steals in 28 games. If that power holds up and he continues to hit in the middle of the order, his fantasy stock will rise dramatically. Rotoworld Today, 9:02 am

    • Stays hot in win
O'Hearn went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over Seattle while also drawing a walk.

Advice: O'Hearn reached in each of his first three trips to the plate, smacking a two-run double in the third and a solo homer in the fifth, with the latter extending Baltimore's lead to four runs. It was the first baseman's third consecutive game with multiple hits, while he's also reached safely in 15 straight. O'Hearn is now 4-for-7 (.571) with two doubles, a homer and three RBI through just two games to open the month of July after batting .321 with 16 RBI in June. Rotowire.com Today, 7:19 am

    • Records 10th steal
Merrill went 2-for-5 with one RBI and one stolen base in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Merrill stole his first base since June 9. Over the 20 games between thefts, the rookie outfielder impressed, hitting .347 with nine home runs, 19 RBI and 14 runs scored. For the season, he's at a .293/.326/.458 slash line with 12 homers, 10 steals, 43 RBI and 39 runs scored over 86 contests while taking on a near-everyday role in center field. • Locks down 21st save
Suarez struck out two over 1.1 perfect innings to earn the save in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Suarez went a week without an appearance, so he was fresh Wednesday. He needed just 14 pitches (10 strikes) to get the last four outs of this victory, which resulted in his 21st save in 22 chances this year. The Padres' closer has been dominant with a 1.05 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB over 34.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:55 pm
    • Ryan O’Hearn drives in three in win vs. Mariners
Ryan O’Hearn went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, three RBI, and a walk in the Orioles’ 4-1 win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: O’Hearn had a big day at the plate against Seattle, starting with a walk in the first inning. Then he doubled in the third to put the Orioles on the board with two runs and scored on a single by Ryan Mountcastle. O’Hearn later slugged a solo homer off Logan Gilbert to extend the lead in the fifth. The 30-year-old first baseman is slashing .294/.355/.485 with 11 homers and 37 RBI across 259 plate appearances. • Robert Suarez works four-out save against Rangers
Robert Suarez shut the Rangers down with two strikeouts across 1 1/3 innings to earn the save on Wednesday.

Advice: Suarez’s magnificent season continued in this one as he eviscerated the Rangers with his blazing fastball and changeup. This was by far the most he’s used his changeup in a single outing at 43% and it seemed to surprise the Rangers. It was a nice wrinkle as Suarez has thrown his four-seam fastball almost 80% of the time so far this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:56 pm
    • William Contreras collects three hits vs. Rockies
William Contreras went 3-for-4 against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: The All-Star catcher just keeps hitting. Contreras collected three base hits against the Rockies on Wednesday, though didn’t have a run or RBI to show for it. The 26-year-old catcher is slashing an outstanding .297/.357/.449 with 10 homers, 59 runs scored, 51 RBI and five steals across 378 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:17 pm
    • Jorge Soler doubles, scores against former team
Jorge Soler went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored on Wednesday against the Braves.

Advice: Soler seems to enjoy hitting lead-off. He’s hit safely in five straight games with six extra-base hits over that span since being put back atop the order. He’s very slowly gotten his feet wet after a miserable start to the season and we know how hot he can get once he finds his groove. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:00 pm
