      Bobby Witt Jr. reached twice while stealing two bases in a 4-3 win for the Royals over the Guardians on Thursday.

      Advice: Witt Jr. is now up to 19 thefts on the year. The speedy superstar is playing at an MVP level with a .317/.371/.560 slash, and has picked up hits in each game thus far in June. If 2025 drafts were held now — and they are decidedly not — it’d be hard to argue that he wouldn’t be the first pick in the overwhelming majority of leagues. Scary to think he’s still only 23, too.     • Singer allows nine hits, two runs in no-decision
      Brady Singer gave up nine hits and three runs — two earned — over 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision versus the Guardians on Thursday.

      Advice: Singer was making his first start since being unavailable due to illness. It didn’t go particularly well, as he needed 70 pitches to get 11 outs while allowing plenty of traffic throughout the contest. The 27-year-old still has a 2.76 ERA, and he has only given up more than two earned runs twice in his dozen starts. The Yankees are next, assuming Kansas City stays on scheduled with their rotation.       Mullins is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Toronto.

      Advice: The last time Mullins made a start against a lefty came back on May 15 against Yusei Kikuchi. Kikuchi is on the mound again for Thursday's tilt, but Mullins will begin the series finale on the bench. Colton Cowser will patrol center field Thursday while Austin Hays handles left field.       Advice: Steer's two-run shot in the top of the ninth plated the tying and go-ahead runs for the Reds, who swept the Rockies in Colorado for the first time since 2012.       Mullins went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Mullins has seen his playing time dip amid his prolonged struggles at the plate. He's gone just 9-for-73 (.123) with a 3:24 BB:K over 26 contests since the start of May, though he has managed to pick up six steals in that span despite his troubles getting on base. Mullins is slashing a meager .178/.225/.314 with 12 steals, six home runs, 22 RBI and 23 runs scored over 182 plate appearances this year. Austin Hays and Colton Cowser have been the main players to benefit from Mullins' decreased playing time, and the Orioles aren't short on prospects to call up if they choose to mix up the composition of outfielders on their roster.       Kimbrel (4-2) allowed an unearned run on two hits over one-third of an inning, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Isiah Kiner-Falefa delivered a walk-off single in the ninth inning to hand Kimbrel his first loss since April 28. This also ended Kimbrel's scoreless streak at 7.2 innings, though he hasn't given up an earned run since May 8.     • Craig Kimbrel takes loss to Blue Jays in ninth
      Craig Kimbrel, who entered a tie game to start the bottom of the ninth, took a loss after giving up an unearned run Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: The unearned run was his own fault, as he threw the ball away on a pickoff attempt. The runners to reach against him both did so on singles, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s game-winning hit to right would have been caught if Kyle Stowers wasn’t playing shallow to prevent the sac fly with one out. It’s obviously a bad result, but since Kimbrel’s pitching wasn’t really the problem tonight, it’s unlikely to throw the closer’s role in Baltimore into chaos again.       Making his first start in three days, Cedric Mullins went 0-for-3 with a walk Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: That sounds bad, but it was actually a really encouraging night for Mullins. Aside from his strikeout, his two at-bats produced liners up the middle at 103 and 97 mph. Unfortunately, those balls were hit right at the shortstop and center fielder, respectively, but in the grand scheme of things, that doesn’t matter much.       Spencer Steer walloped a go-ahead two-run homer in the ninth inning on Wednesday in the Reds’ comeback win over the Rockies.

      Advice: Steer was the hero on Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field for Cincinnati as he delivered a clutch go-ahead homer off Rockies closer Jalen Beeks with the Reds down to their final out. It was his seventh round-tripper of the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:31 pm
