    • Michael Lorenzen combines on shutout of Rays
Michael Lorenzen pitched around five walks to shut out the Rays for five innings in the Rangers’ 3-0 victory Friday.

Advice: Lorenzen surrendered just one hit, a double off the bat of Brandon Lowe. It wound up being a three-hit shutout for the Rangers’ pitching staff, with José Leclerc, Jacob Latz, David Robertson and Kirby Yates combining to finish the effort. Lorenzen is now 5-4 with a 3.21 ERA. It will be interesting to see if the Rangers choose to move him with Tyler Mahle, Cody Bradford and Jacob deGrom all seemingly on the way back. • Locks down 14th save
Phillips struck out the side to earn the save in Friday's 8-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Phillips needed just 12 pitches (nine strikes) to set the Brewers down in order to protect a three-run lead. It's an encouraging sign, as he had allowed a run in each of his last two outings. Phillips is up to 14 saves and one hold through 26.2 innings this season, and he's maintained a strong 2.03 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:16 pm
    • Evan Phillips strikes out side in 14th save
Evan Phillips struck out the side while picking up a save Friday for the Dodgers in their 8-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Phillips was filthy while picking up the save, needing only 12 pitches to fan the side. He still hasn’t blown a save in 2024, and his 14 stops are more impressive when you consider he missed close to a month with his hamstring strain. Especially when you consider who he plays for on top of his talent, Phillips should remain an elite closing option for the foreseeable future. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:45 pm
    • Wins despite command issues
Lorenzen (5-4) allowed a hit and five walks over five shutout innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over the Rays.

Advice: Lorenzen's control was shaky and nearly cost him a scoreless outing when he walked the bases loaded in the fifth inning, but he managed to escape the jam. He's thrown exactly five innings in three straight starts and has walked nine batters over his last two outings. Lorenzen dropped his season ERA to 3.21 with a lackluster 62:40 K:BB through 87 innings. His next start is lined up to be on the road against the Angels. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:22 pm
    • Trea Turner smacks two homers in win over Braves
Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with two two-run home runs in an 8-6 win over the Braves on Friday.

Advice: Good things have come in pairs for Turner who’s two two-run shots off Max Fried gave the Phillies a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. This was also the second time in four games Turner hit two long balls and his fourth multi-hit game in five contests. Deuces are officially wild for Turner. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:50 pm

    • Jason Foley miraculously escapes with save Friday
Jason Foley surrendered a pair of runs in the ninth inning on Friday night, but managed to miraculously escape with a one-run lead intact against the Reds to earn his 14th save of the season.

Advice: Foley came on with a three-run lead to protect in the ninth inning, but immediately made things interesting by allowing an infield single to Elly De La Cruz — who then stole second and took third on a balk. Spencer Steer smacked a one-out RBI single to make it a bit closer and Nick Martini followed with an RBI triple that put the tying run at third base with only one out. Tyler Stephenson then hit a ground ball to third, where Blake Dunn was cut down at the plate attempting to score. Foley then allowed a single to Noelvi Marte before finally getting Santiago Espinal to ground out to first to end it. Foley now sports a 3.26 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 24/9 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings on the season to go with 14 saves and a pair of victories. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:46 pm
    • Goes deep twice
Turner went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's win over Atlanta.

Advice: Turner belted a two-run shot in the fourth inning followed by another in the sixth. He's gone deep five times in 16 games since returning from the injured list, with four of those coming in his last four games. Turner has knocked multiple hits in eight of those 16 games, good for a .338 average. On the year, he's slashing .341/.386/.510 with 21 extra-base hits and 22 RBI through 49 contests. • Idle vs. southpaw
O'Hearn is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Athletics.

Advice: O'Hearn will retreat to the bench Friday with Oakland sending southpaw Hogan Harris to the mound. O'Hearn is coming off an 0-for-4 effort with two strikeouts in Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Mariners, but since June 1 he is slashing .326/.381/.516 with four home runs and 19 RBI over 95 at-bats. Adley Rutschman will serve as the designated hitter Friday and bat second. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:16 pm

    • Dealing with glute tightness
Smith is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rays due to glute tightness, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: It's the same injury that kept Smith off the field for four games in June, and the hope this time around is that the injury will keep him out of the lineup for just one or two games. Since June 1, the 26-year-old infielder is slashing .319/.407/.511 with four home runs, 12 RBI and an .918 OPS over 94 at-bats. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:11 pm
