    • Corbin Carroll sits Saturday against southpaw
Corbin Carroll is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Athletics.

Advice: It appears to be a routine off day for Carroll with lefty Hogan Harris drawing the starting assignment on Saturday afternoon for Oakland. The 23-year-old’s sophomore campaign hasn’t gone as planned, but he’s shown some signs of life over the last few weeks, batting .253 (22-for-87) with eight extra-base hits (zero homers) and five steals since June 1. The complete lack of over-the-fence pop at the moment remains a massive concern for fantasy managers moving forward. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago

    • Dropped in order against lefty
Carroll batted seventh and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Carroll was dropped from the top of the order to seventh against a left-hander, though it's unclear if this was a specific adjustment for one game or part of a larger plan going forward against lefties. Carroll appeared to put a season-opening slump behind him earlier this month but was 3-for-22 (.136) over seven games entering Friday. It seems odd that manager Torey Lovullo would drop him after a one-week slump. More should be learned Saturday, when the A's scheduled starter is lefty Hogan Harris. • Submits quality start
Webb allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Webb had a rough fifth inning, but other than that, he was his usually steady self. With the Giants' rotation in shambles due to injuries, getting a longer start out of Webb is a positive for the team's situation. He's gone at least six innings in 10 straight appearances, posting a 2.86 ERA over 66 innings with a 61:14 K:BB in that span. That's just a bit better than his 3.12 ERA for the year, which comes with a 1.22 WHIP and 97:26 K:BB across 112.1 innings through 18 starts. Webb's next start is projected to be at Atlanta. • Logan Webb spins seven innings in no-decision
Logan Webb gave up two runs in seven innings against the Dodgers on Friday while not qualifying for a decision.

Advice: Webb threw 62-of-93 pitches for strikes while walking three and fanning six. The right-hander gave up both runs in the fifth, and outside of that frame he was brilliant while lowering his ERA to 3.12 on the campaign. Webb isn’t immune to clunkers, but he’s been one of the best starting options in baseball since 2021. You already knew that, but it’s a good reminder. Webb’s next start is lined up for Thursday against Atlanta. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:11 pm

    • Earns 13th save
Fairbanks earned a save against the Nationals on Friday, walking one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Fairbanks was asked to protect a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning and worked around a one-out walk to secure his 13th save of the season. The closer has rebounded from a blown save June 20 to nail down three consecutive scoreless saves. He is now 13-for-15 in save chances with a 3.14 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 30:13 K:BB over 28.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:39 pm
    • Pete Fairbanks slams door on Nationals in ninth
Pete Fairbanks slammed the door on the Nationals in the ninth inning on Friday night, protecting a two-run lead to earn his 13th save of the season.

Advice: Fairbanks had to work a bit in the ninth inning of this one, as he issued a one-out walk to Keibert Ruiz to bring the tying run to the plate. He battled back though, getting Eddie Rosario on a line drive to right field and Nick Senzel on a ground ball to first base to end it. In all, he needed 22 pitches (13 strikes) to get the job done. On the season, Fairbanks now sports a 3.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 30/13 K/BB ratio over 28 innings to go along with 13 saves and two victories. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:26 pm
    • Officially placed on IL
The Giants placed Estrada on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left wrist sprain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reported earlier Friday that Estrada has been playing through multiple injuries recently, and the Giants will now place the 28-year-old infielder on the IL so that he can recover properly. Tyler Fitzgerald will come up from Triple-A Sacramento to help replenish the Giants' infield depth, and Nick Ahmed figures to see the biggest increase in playing time while Estrada is sidelined. • Giants place Thairo Estrada on 10-day injured list
Giants placed INF Thairo Estrada on the 10-day injured list with left wrist tendinitis.

Advice: Giants’ manager Bob Melvin noted that Estrada has been playing through a lot recently, so this was a good opportunity to sit him down for a while and allow him to get right. Brett Wisely is starting in his place at second base on Friday night and could be in line for increased action while Estrada is sidelined. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:38 pm

    • Headed toward IL stint
Manager Bob Melvin said Friday that it's likely Estrada will be placed on the injured list due to an undisclosed injury, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Pavlovic notes that Estrada has been working through multiple injuries lately and hasn't played in back-to-back games. With the Giants needing to free up a roster spot for the return of LaMonte Wade (hamstring), Estrada could be given an extended break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:38 pm
