    • Lifts homer in win
Melendez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 10-1 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Melendez ended a 17-game homer drought with his seventh-inning blast Sunday. The outfielder hit .271 with five doubles but just one RBI during his power drought. Despite the recent improvements at the plate, Melendez is still slashing a poor .190/.256/.367 with nine homers, 25 RBI, 22 runs scored and two stolen bases over 80 contests this season. • Provides offense in loss
Caballero went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 13-2 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Caballero's homer briefly gave the Rays a 2-1 lead in the third inning before the Rangers scored nine runs over the next two frames. The utility infielder isn't known for his power, but he has two homers over his last five games. For the year, he's slashing .241/.301/.369 with six homers, 24 RBI, 38 runs scored and 24 stolen bases across 274 plate appearances. Caballero will likely see most of his playing time against left-handed pitchers, mainly serving as a platoon option in the middle infield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:38 pm

    • Pre-break return possible
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Sunday that Assad (forearm) could be activated from the injured list prior to the All-Star break, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Heraldreports.

Advice: The right-hander landed on the shelf in late June with a strained forearm, but he wasn't shut down from throwing for long and had a bullpen session Friday. The Cubs have a doubleheader Saturday in St. Louis, and that would be a logicial point for him to be re-insterted into the rotation ahead of the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:06 pm

    • Gets walked off Sunday
Hader (3-5) took the loss Sunday against the Twins, allowing a solo home run without recording an out.

Advice: Hader entered with the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth. He served up a solo shot to Christian Vazquez, which gave the Twins the walk-off win. This is the fourth time in six outings that Hader has given up a run -- all of which have been on homers -- though he hasn't taken a blown save since April 2. He's at a 4.15 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 61:11 K:BB through 39 innings while converting 15 of 16 save chances this season. Since his missteps have rarely resulted in trouble so far, Hader's security as the Astros' closer remains high, but his recent struggles with the long ball are reminiscent of his awful second half of 2022, which is at least worth keeping an eye on for fantasy purposes. • José Caballero homers in loss
José Caballero went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

Advice: Caballero took Nathan Eovaldi deep for a two-run hot, accounting for the only runs the Rays would score on the day. The 27-year-old now has six home runs and 24 RBI on the season, but his fantasy value comes courtesy of his 24 stolen bases. As long as he keeps playing most of the games in Tampa Bay, his speed will give him fantasy value. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:31 pm

    • Josh Hader blows save, takes 5th loss of season
Josh Hader allowed one run on one hit without recording an out in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.

Advice: Hader was brought into a tie game and allowed a game-winning home run to Christian Vazquez. Hader now has a 4.15 ERA to go along with 15 saves on the season. It’s unlikely that Houston will give him competition for the closer’s role, but it hasn’t been a great first season in Houston for the left-hander who now has two blown saves and five losses on the year. • Jesse Winker doubles twice in loss
Jesse Winker went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI on Sunday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Winker continues to mash. His two doubles took his season total to 17 and he has six in his last 23 plate appearances. It was bizarre to watch his downturn over the past few seasons but he seems back to being the patient, all-fields hitter he was when he was at his best. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:48 pm

    • Taking seat with sore knee
Alvarez (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle, Astros manager Joe Espada said that Alvarez's right knee is still "pretty sore" after the 26-year-old was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning of Saturday's 9-3 loss. Alvarez was ultimately removed from Saturday's contest in the eighth inning, and he'll now miss out on a start for the first time since June 19 while he receives treatment for the knee. Espada seemed to downplay the injury and suggested that Alvarez could hit in the batting cage Sunday, though the Astros could still look to stay away from Alvarez in the series finale even if a potential pinch-hitting situation emerges. After Sunday's game, the Astros are off Monday before kicking off a three-game series with the Marlins on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:13 am

    • Receiving Sunday off
De La Cruz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Advice: De La Cruz started the previous 31 games but will take a breather Sunday after he posted a .222/.258/.421 slash line during that span. Nick Gordon will receive a start in left field while batting seventh in the series finale versus Chicago. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:32 am
