    • On bench versus lefty
Busch is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Advice: It's the third straight game on the bench for the 26-year-old, and this time it comes as lefty Nick Lodolo takes the mound for the Reds. Busch had a hot start to the campaign with a 1.062 OPS in his first 19 contests, but he has a .186/.292/.314 slash line and 38.3 percent strikeout rate in his past 35 games. Patrick Wisdom will start at first base Sunday for the Cubs. Rotowire.com Today, 10:50 am
    • Out against righty Sunday
Gimenez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Gimenez took a seat Saturday against southpaw Mitchell Parker, but the lefty-hitting infielder will remain on the bench for the series finale versus the Nationals even while a right-hander (Jake Irvin) takes the bump for Washington. The Guardians may have just been looking to get an extended break for Gimenez, who had started in every game dating back to May 10 before his back-to-back absences. Daniel Schneemann was called up from Triple-A Columbus earlier Sunday and will pick up his first MLB start in place of Gimenez at the keystone. Rotowire.com Today, 10:33 am

    • Late addition to lineup
Contreras is starting behind the plate and batting second Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: The 26-year-old catcher was scheduled to receive his first day off of the season Sunday, but he apparently convinced manager Pat Murphy to continue the starting streak. Contreras has gone 6-for-25 with no extra-base hits over the past six games versus the Cubs and White Sox. Rotowire.com Today, 10:26 am

    • Staying on bench Sunday
Refsnyder is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Refsnyder will be on the bench for a second straight game following a stretch of five consecutive starts. Though he's maintaining an excellent .333/.414/.517 slash line over 99 plate appearances on the season, Refsnyder still isn't being treated as an everyday player, at least against right-handed pitching. The Red Sox may continue to rotate a number of players at the designated-hitter spot against righties, with Garrett Cooper picking up the assignment Sunday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:02 am

    • First day off of 2024
Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Contreras started Milwaukee's first 58 games of the season (58 at catcher, 11 at designated hitter), but he'll receive a well-deserved day off Sunday versus Chicago. He's been an MVP candidate early in 2024 with a eight homers, 44 RBI, 48 runs, four steals and a .322/.394/.498 slash line. Gary Sanchez is working behind the plate Sunday for the Brewers. • Escapes with no-decision Saturday
Bradish came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 9-5 win over the Rays, giving up five runs on seven hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander wasn't at his sharpest, but he mostly got pecked to death as only one of the hits off him -- a triple by Yandy Diaz in the second inning -- went for extra bases. Bradish got more than enough run support to avoid his first loss of the season, however. He'll take a 3.18 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB through 28.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Toronto. Rotowire.com Today, 4:34 am

    • Struggles against Astros
Ryan (4-4) took the loss against Houston on Saturday, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four batters over five innings.

Advice: Ryan was stung by the long ball in the loss, giving up a season-high four homers. He has allowed at least that many home runs in a start four times in his career, though he came into Saturday on pace for a career-best 0.9 HR/9. Ryan saw his season ERA jump from 2.96 to 3.38 as a result of the poor start, but that mark is still on pace for the best of his career. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:50 pm

    • Bohm drives in two against Cardinals Saturday
Alec Bohm went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double and two RBI against the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Bohm started the scoring with a two-run double off Sonny Gray in the first inning. He only has five home runs on the season, but he’s hitting .311 with 49 RBI in 58 games. Bohm is a mainstay in the middle of the order for the Phillies now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:14 pm

    • Joe Ryan gives up four homers in loss to Astros
Joe Ryan gave up five runs over five innings while picking up a loss to the Astros on Saturday.

Advice: Ryan gave up eight hits, which is not great, and five of those hits left the park, which is worse. The 27-year-old was coming off an outstanding start against the Royals on Monday. This was anything but. He also walked two and struck out four in one of the worst outings of the season for Ryan. Expect better things for the right-hander against Pittsburgh next week.
