    • Chris Bassitt allows three earned runs in loss
Chris Bassitt pitched 5 ⅔ innings and allowed three earned runs on Friday in a loss to the Rays. He struck out five and walked three.

Advice: Bassitt just can’t seem to get on track this season. He unraveled in the sixth inning, the third time through the Rays’ order, with Richie Palacios’ two-run homer chasing him. His 5.03 ERA has been a huge disappointment and his career-high 10 BB% doesn’t suggest better times are coming. Rotoworld Friday, 7:48 pm
    • Nabs second win
Means (2-0) earned the win Friday over the Mariners, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Means got off to a rocky start, allowing a run on three hits in the first inning. However, he'd settle down and hold Seattle to just one additional run over his final five frames in an eventual 9-2 win. It was a nice bounce-back effort from Means after he gave up four runs to Arizona in just 4.2 innings his last time out. The 31-year-old southpaw lowered his ERA to 3.06 with a 0.85 WHIP and 15 strikeouts over 17.2 innings, and he has yet to issue a walk. Means is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Cardinals in his next outing. Rotowire.com Friday, 6:46 pm

    • John Means strikes out four in win over Mariners
John Means logged a quality start in Friday evening’s victory over the Mariners, surrendering just two runs on six hits across six frames.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw punched out four batters on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He allowed an RBI single to Mitch Garver in the first inning, then served up a solo blast to Dylan Moore in the fifth, but that was the extent of the damage done against him in this one. Means got 11 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night — eight of those on his changeup — while registering a CSW of 32 percent. Through his first three starts, he now sits at 2-0 with a 3.06 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and a 15/0 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings. He’ll look to extend that dominance when he takes on the Cardinals in St. Louis on Wednesday. Rotoworld Friday, 6:38 pm

    • Scratched due to heel injury
Garcia was scratched from Friday's lineup in Philadelphia due to a right heel injury, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Garcia also didn't start Wednesday's game versus the White Sox after his heel got caught by a cleat earlier in the series. The infielder expects to return Saturday. Ildemaro Vargas will man the keystone in Garcia's place. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:27 pm
    • Fans eight in loss
Glasnow (6-2) took the loss against the Reds on Thursday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight over five innings.

Advice: Glasnow ran into trouble early, surrendering a leadoff homer to Will Benson to open the contest along with an RBI double to Tyler Stephenson four batters later. The Reds would get to Glasnow again in the third and fifth innings, marking only the second time this season he's allowed four or more runs in an outing. The right-hander had logged four consecutive quality starts coming into Thursday and still carries a 3.32 ERA in May to go along with a 28:4 K:BB. He's also struck out at least eight batters in five straight starts. Rotowire.com Friday, 6:29 am

    • Collects third win
Jones (3-4) picked up the win over the Cubs on Thursday, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven over six innings.

Advice: Jones allowed hits in four of his six innings of work, including a solo homer off the bat of Ian Happ to lead off the second. However, the right-hander still managed to log his third consecutive quality start while also posting at least seven strikeouts for the seventh time in nine outings this season. Jones produced 15 swings and misses on the night, though his seven hits allowed marked a season high. He's won just two of his last six decisions despite carrying a 2.89 ERA on the campaign. • Tyler Glasnow surrenders four runs in loss to Reds
Tyler Glasnow struck out eight and was charged with four runs over five innings on Thursday in a loss to the Reds.

Advice: It was a rare dud for Glasnow, who has allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 10 starts at the outset of his Dodgers debut. The 30-year-old righty will bring a and 81/16 K/BB ratio across 62 innings (10 starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the division-rival Diamondbacks. Rotoworld Friday, 2:55 am

    • Jones with another quality start Thursday
Jared Jones allowed three earned runs, struck out seven in six innings and picked up the win in the Pirates’ 5-4 victory against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: Jones was top notch once again and earned his third win of the season. He induced 15 whiffs and had a 29 percent CSW on the night. His ERA is 2.89 on the season. Jones is pretty easily a top 20 starting pitcher for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old right-hander is set to face the Giants at home in his next start.

    • Emmet Sheehan undergoes Tommy John surgery
Emmet Sheehan underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery earlier this week.

Advice: The writing was seemingly on the wall after Sheehan was shut down from throwing indefinitely a couple weeks ago due to right forearm inflammation. The 24-year-old right-hander showed some immense promise last year as a rookie before landing on the shelf back in spring training with an ominous arm injury. There should be some clarity on his return timetable at some point in the near future, but it’s obviously a significant development for his fantasy appeal in dynasty leagues.
