      Shea Langeliers homered and stole a base in the Athletics’ 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

      Advice: Langeliers isn’t exactly known for his speed, but he was able to procure his third steal of the season. The power is a little more readily apparent, and he hit one of three homers in the ninth inning for the A’s to give him 15 on the year and Oakland an 8-4 lead.       Advice: The rookie capped San Diego's improbable nine-run fifth inning by sending a Greg Weissert fastball over the fence in straightaway center field. Merrill's power has emerged as the weather has heated up -- while his 11 homers through 82 games is already good for a 21-year-old in his first MLB campaign, eight of those long balls have come in his last 15 contests, a stretch in which he's batting .309 (17-for-55) with 11 runs and 16 RBI.       Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 10-3 win against Cleveland.

      Advice: After cracking an RBI single in the third inning, the Kansas City first baseman popped a two-run homer in the eighth for his ninth of the season. Pasquantino has struggled lately, as this marked his first multi-RBI game since June 13 against the Yankees.     • Jackson Merrill homers in nine-run fifth inning
      Jackson Merrill hit a three-run homer to camp a nine-run fifth as the Padres bested the Red Sox 9-2 on Friday.

      Advice: The Padres were held scoreless until the fifth, when the first nine batters totaled nine runs on eight hits and one walk against Nick Pivetta and Greg Weissert. Merrill concluded the rally with the second homer of the inning. After that, the Padres put their bats back to bed, coming up with just one hit off Chase Anderson in the final four innings. Merrill’s homer was his 11th in 82 games. His current .282/.318/.439 line is a near match for the .277/.326/.444 he came in at least year, only that was compiled in high-A and Double-A.       Gleyber Torres returned to the Yankees’ starting lineup on Friday night.

      Advice: Torres may have been dealing with a minor injury, or his absence from the lineup the last two days could have been a punishment for failing to run out a ground ball. Either way, he’s back in there at second base and batting fifth against Yusei Kikuchi and the Blue Jays on Friday evening in Toronto.
