    • Adolis García not starting Sunday against Rays
Adolis García is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s bout against the Rays.

Advice: García will take a seat to begin Sunday’s game as he continues to struggle with a .215/.280/.413 slash, and he’s gone hitless in his last 10 at-bats over three games. Travis Jankowski will be the starting right fielder with Derek Hill the designated hitter. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

    • Takes third loss in quality start
Lugo (11-3) was tagged with the loss against the Rockies on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Lugo allowed baserunners in five of his six innings of work but managed to limit the damage to three runs (two earned) as Kansas City's offense struggled to get any momentum going behind him. The right-hander induced 15 swings and misses on the night and has now recorded at least five strikeouts in four consecutive starts. Lugo has also posted quality starts in five straight and hasn't given up more than two runs in each of his last five outings. His 2.21 ERA on the season currently leads the majors, while his 11 wins also have him tied with Chris Sale for the league lead. Rotowire.com Today, 6:41 am

    • Extends hit streak to five games
Taveras went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 4-3 win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Taveras was on base when Marcus Semien belted a two-run, game-deciding home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Taveras had earlier singled to extend a hit streak to five games (7-for-16) and has hit safely in his last eight starts (11-for-26). Following a modest breakout season in 2023, he has mostly disappointed in 2024 (.232 average, .643 OPS), although Taveras' speed (10 steals, four consecutive MLB seasons with double-digit thefts) holds fantasy relevance. • Nick Lodolo (finger) throws bullpen session
Nick Lodolo (finger) threw a bullpen session Saturday.

Advice: Lodolo has been on the injured list since June 25 while dealing with a blister issue. The southpaw hurler has completed two sessions over the last week, and he’s eligible to come off the list Tuesday. There’s no timetable for when he’ll actually return, and there’s a chance that we won’t see Lodolo until after the All-Star break, but it’s at least positive that he’s able to throw right now. • Completes side session Saturday
Lodolo (finger) threw a bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The throwing session was Lodolo's second in four days, as he had previously tossed 20 pitches to hitters in live batting practice Wednesday. Given that he's been on the injured list only since June 25 with a left finger blister, Lodolo will likely be able to bypass a minor-league rehab assignment, though it's not immediately clear if he'll be activated from the IL during the final week before the All-Star break. The Reds have already announced their starters through Wednesday, so Thursday's series finale versus the Rockies would likely be the earliest date that Lodolo might be activated. • Brenton Doyle homers again, Rockies edge Royals
Brenton Doyle clubbed a two-run homer on Saturday, leading the Rockies to a 3-1 win over the Royals.

Advice: Doyle’s 408-foot moonshot off Royals starter Seth Lugo in the second-inning was his fourth round-tripper in his last five contests and also gave Colorado an early advantage that they didn’t relinquish. The 26-year-old was already a brilliant defender in center field coming into the year, but he’s made some serious strides at the plate this season with 11 homers and 20 steals already heading into the All-Star break. He’s on fire at the moment, batting a surreal .423 (11-for-26) with four homers, nine RBI and one steal over his last seven contests. Rotoworld Today, 3:22 am

    • Ryan McMahon tallies three hits, RBI in victory
Ryan McMahon went 3-for-3 with an RBI on Saturday in the Rockies’ win over the Royals.

Advice: McMahon reached base safely in all four of his plate appearances and also provided a key insurance run with a fifth-inning single off Royals starter Seth Lugo that brought Sam Hilliard around to extend Colorado’s lead to a commanding three-run margin at the time. The 29-year-old third baseman is making a serious push for his first All-Star Game selection this season, batting .272 (90-for-331) with 14 homers, 45 RBI and three steals through 87 games. • Seth Lugo allows three runs in loss to Rockies
Seth Lugo was charged with three runs (two earned) over six innings on Saturday in a loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Lugo fell behind early when he surrendered a two-run homer to Rockies emerging star Brenton Doyle in the second inning. He managed to limit the damage to just a run-scoring single by Ryan McMahon in the fifth-inning, but it was enough to saddle him with a loss for just the third time this year. The 34-year-old righty is tied with Braves ace Chris Sale with a major league-leading 11 wins this season to accompany a sparkling 2.21 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 110/29 K/BB ratio across 122 innings (19 starts). There’s some regression looming, but he’s been a revelation this season in his Kansas City debut. He’ll wrap up the first half on Saturday with a road matchup against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. • Homers in blowout loss
Mountcastle went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 19-8 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Mountcastle was one of six Orioles to produce multiple hits, but they couldn't keep up with a barrage of hits from the Athletics. The long ball ended a 23-game homer drought for Mountcastle, who now has 12 homers on the year. He's slashing .271/.313/.459 with 42 RBI, 44 runs scored, 21 doubles and two stolen bases across 81 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:29 pm
