    • Wyatt Langford puts on a show in losing effort
Wyatt Langford delivered an RBI single on Thursday in the Rangers’ loss to the Padres.

Advice: Langford made a pair of unbelievable highlight-reel worthy defensive plays and was responsible for plating the Rangers’ lone run of the contest with a run-scoring single off Padres starter Michael King in the sixth inning. The 22-year-old top prospect has been excellent over the last few weeks, batting .303 (33-for-109) with three homers and six steals over his last 30 games. He’s yet another textbook example of why fantasy managers should exercise patience with talented top prospects, even if they struggle initially upon reaching the majors. • Kenta Maeda tagged for nine runs by former team
Kenta Maeda was lit up for nine runs in 3 2/3 innings by his former team in a loss to the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: It’d be nice to think that such an awful performance was the result of his old team knowing something no one else did, but Maeda actually turned in one of his better starts of the year against the Twins back in April. This makes losses in four straight decisions for him, and his ERA stands at 6.71. Maybe the Tigers will try stashing him on the IL again, though that didn’t work in May. It seems more likely that they’ll just live with the results, as contention scarcely appears to be in the cards anyway. He’s in the first year of a two-year deal, so releasing him isn’t likely to be considered. Rotoworld Today, 1:31 pm
    • Picks up seventh steal
Cruz went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a strikeouts in a 3-2 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: Cruz reached base on a single in the first and proceeded to steal second but failed to score. Cruz doesn't run often, but he's successful when he does, as he's only been caught stealing once in 12 attempts since the beginning of 2023. The 25-year-old is slashing .240/.294/.425 with 12 homers, 37 RBI, and seven steals this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:49 pm

    • Mitch Garver back in lineup Thursday vs. Orioles
Mitch Garver (wrist) is back in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Orioles.

Advice: Garver is back at designated hitter for Thursday’s game following a brief two-game absence due to a right wrist contusion. Rotoworld Today, 12:04 pm

    • Marcus Semien getting a day off on Thursday
Marcus Semien is not in the Rangers’ lineup on Thursday.

Advice: It’s a rare off day for Semien, who has played all 162 games in three of the last four non-COVID seasons and played 161 games in the other year. However, the day off might be needed as Semien has been struggling at the dish of late. Jonathan Ornelas still start at second and bat ninth. Rotoworld Today, 11:00 am

    • Swipes two bags in win
Thomas went 1-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases in Thursday's win against the Mets.

Advice: Thomas had his fifth game of the season with multiple stolen bases, which is the second most in MLB behind Elly De La Cruz (eight). Thomas already has 19 steals in 58 games this season, one away from the career high he set last season in 156 contests. The 28-year-old continues to be a solid producer since returning from a knee injury in late May, slashing .268/.327/.504 with six homers and 25 RBI over his last 36 games. • Back in Seattle lineup
Garver (wrist) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Thursday's game versus the Orioles.

Advice: Garver was used as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's game and is now back in the lineup after missing two starts with a sore wrist. He and his teammates will be tasked with solving Baltimore ace Corbin Burnes. Rotowire.com Today, 10:07 am

    • Rare day off amidst slump
Semien is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres.

Advice: It's just the second day off of the season for Semien, who has managed just two hits over his last 36 at-bats. Jonathan Ornelas will handle second base for the Rangers on Thursday while Semien receives some much-needed rest. Rotowire.com Today, 8:53 am

    • Makes pinch-hit cameo Wednesday
Garver (wrist) entered Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Orioles as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and singled in his one plate appearance.

Advice: Garver was out of the starting nine for the second straight day after being hit by a pitch in the wrist Sunday against the Twins, but his ability to step into the batter's box and put some good wood on the ball would seem to bode well for his recovery. The veteran offseason addition, who snapped a brief 0-for-9 skid with his timely knock, could find himself back in the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Orioles, although manager Scott Servais said before Wednesday's game that Garver wasn't fully pain-free yet, per MLB.com.
