    • MRI on Rafael Devers’ knee reveals bone bruise
Rafael Devers is day-to-day with a left knee bone bruise.

Advice: Red Sox manager Alex Cora added that he doesn’t think Devers will require a trip to the injured list. It’s an extremely encouraging development for Boston, and fantasy managers, after a precautionary MRI on Thursday confirmed that Devers isn’t dealing with any major structural damage in his left knee. The 27-year-old fantasy superstar will likely require a few additional days off to rest and recover, but doesn’t appear to be facing an extended absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:47 pm

    • MRI reveals bone bruise
Imaging on Devers' left knee revealed a bone bruise Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Manager Alex Cora said Devers will be viewed as day-to-day going forward, and a trip to the injured list isn't expected. Devers was removed from Tuesday's game due to his injury and attempted to play through it Wednesday, but the results of his MRI will presumably keep him out of the lineup for multiple games. Pablo Reyes will start at third base Thursday and will likely continue to do so while the All-Star infielder is sidelined. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:37 pm

    • Hits go-ahead homer in Game 1
Perez (groin) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-2 win over the White Sox in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Perez returned from a Grade 1 left groin strain Wednesday and delivered the key hit in the Royals' matinee win. He also went 0-for-2 with two walks in the nightcap while serving as the designated hitter. He appears good to go moving forward after the injury scare. The veteran catcher is off to a hot start with five homers, 17 RBI, nine runs scored and two doubles while slashing .324/.370/.574 over 18 contests this season. • Goes deep Wednesday
Santander went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Twins.

Advice: Santander has gone 3-for-18 over his last five contests. That's not a great stretch, but so far, he's in little danger of losing playing time as manager Brandon Hyde gets creative to keep Colton Cowser in the lineup. Santander is batting .203 with four homers, 15 RBI, nine runs scored, two doubles and no stolen bases through 74 plate appearances as the Orioles' primary right fielder. • Rafael Devers to undergo MRI on left knee
Rafael Devers will undergo an MRI on his left knee.

Advice: Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Thursday that the additional imaging is more for peace of mind than anything else, but an MRI is still an MRI. He added that Devers wasn’t feeling great and had trouble staying on his leg on Wednesday. The 27-year-old was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Guardians when he experienced discomfort in his left knee. We’ll have to wait and see if the MRI revels anything significant, but it adds to the laundry list of injuries the Red Sox are dealing with earlier on this season. • Needs MRI on knee
Manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Devers is out of the lineup for the Red Sox's series finale versus the Guardians while he receives an MRI on his left knee, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Devers was removed from Tuesday's 10-7 loss to Cleveland due to left knee discomfort, but he felt well enough to serve as the Red Sox's designated hitter in Wednesday's 2-0 win. Though he played the entire game, Devers went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and didn't bounce back from the knee issue as strongly as he had hoped. Cora suggested the MRI is more precautionary than anything just to ensure nothing is structurally wrong with Devers' knee, but his availability for Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh would appear to be in jeopardy, nonetheless. • Heads to bench Thursday
Devers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Cleveland, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Devers exited Tuesday's 10-7 loss to the Guardians with knee discomfort, but he returned to the lineup for Wednesday's 2-0 win as the Red Sox's designated hitter, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts while playing the full game. Despite the poor showing at the dish, Devers isn't believed to have experienced any renewed discomfort during the game, so his absence from the lineup Thursday looks to be mostly maintenance-related as Boston and Cleveland close their series with a day game after a night game. Devers is expected to be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh, though it's unclear if he'll immediately be able to take back his usual duties at third base. • Collects fifth save
Iglesias walked one in a scoreless 10th inning Wednesday to record his fifth save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Astros.

Advice: After Atlanta grabbed the lead in the top of the 10th, Iglesias walked Kyle Tucker on five pitches to lead off the bottom of the frame and set up a double play, and the right-hander got one from Jeremy Pena to end the game. Iglesias is still looking for his peak velocity -- he topped out at 94.6 mph with his sinker Wednesday, below last season's 95.0 mph average -- and he has just a 3:1 K:BB through his first 6.1 innings. However, the 34-year-old is 5-for-5 in converting save chances and sports a 2.84 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. His job as Atlanta's closer remains secure. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:31 am

    • Another strong start
Detmers didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Rays. He struck out four.

Advice: Although Detmers didn't reach seven strikeouts for the first time all season, he's now surrendered one earned run or zero in four straight outings. After seeing his K/9 jump up to 10.2 in 2023, Detmers has taken another step forward in that category with an 11.9 K/9 through 22.2 innings. The southpaw is tentatively scheduled to face the Orioles on Monday for his next start. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:48 pm
