    • Sent out to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Allen to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Advice: Allen is the second member of the Guardians' Opening Day rotation to be sent to Columbus within a week, as Triston McKenzie was previously dispatched to the minors last Sunday. Though he's stayed healthy all season, Allen has struggled mightily to build on a solid 2023 rookie campaign, as he's turned in a 5.67 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 76:35 K:BB across 87.1 innings through 18 starts. He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to newly acquired right-hander Spencer Howard, who could end up entering the rotation the next time Allen's turn comes up Thursday in Detroit. • Guardians option Logan Allen to Triple-A
Guardians optioned LHP Logan Allen to Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: Allen is removed from the active roster with Spencer Howard coming to join the team after he was acquired in trade. Allen will likely be back up after the All-Star break, but his shaky pitching results (5.67 ERA) puts his rotation spot in a precarious position. Rotoworld Today, 7:51 am

    • Cleared for baseball activity
McLain (shoulder) was cleared Friday to begin baseball activities, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cincinnati manager David Bell said McLain met with some strength markers and can now begin a progression. The Reds are putting together a regimen of activities, and McLain could perform those activities in Arizona or with the team. Rotowire.com Today, 5:20 am

    • Takes third loss
Suarez (10-3) allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings to take the loss versus Atlanta on Saturday.

Advice: Only three Atlanta batters got hits in the contest, but they each had two against Suarez. Ozzie Albies and Marcell Ozuna both homered and combined to drive in all five runs. Suarez has allowed 15 runs (13 earned) across 15.2 innings over his last three starts, accounting for three of the four times he's given up at least four runs this year. He's at a 2.58 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 106:23 K:BB through 108 innings over 18 starts. Suarez will look to end his early-summer swoon in a favorable home start versus the Athletics next week. • Inefficient in no-decision
Allen allowed two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out nine over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Saturday.

Advice: Allen failed to make it out of the fifth inning for the third start in a row. He matched his season high with four walks, and the nine strikeouts were also a season high, but they combined to work his pitch count up quickly. Allen has allowed 11 runs over 11.2 innings across his last three starts and now has a 5.67 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 76:35 K:BB through 87.1 innings over 18 starts this year. He's projected to make his next start at Detroit. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:44 pm

    • Ranger Suárez struggles in loss to Braves Saturday
Ranger Suárez had his second straight rough outing in Saturday’s loss to the Braves, surrendering five runs on six hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw racked up seven strikeouts on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Marcell Ozuna clubbing a two-run homer to cap off a three-run first inning and Ozzie Albies smacking a two-run homer in the fifth. Suárez got 13 swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. This was the third straight rough start for Suárez who has seen his impeccable 1.75 ERA swell to 2.58. He’ll look to get back on track and finish the first half strong when he takes on the Athletics at home on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:24 pm
    • Homer, steal in loss
Devers went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in a 14-4 loss to the Yankees on Saturday.

Advice: Devers hit an RBI single in the third inning before stealing second and coming around to score later in the frame. He then chased Gerrit Cole in the fifth with his 26th career home run against the Yankees. The steal was just his second of the season, but the 27-year-old has slashed a fantastic .287/.373/.570 with 19 home runs, 53 RBI and 54 runs scored over 332 plate appearances. • Julio Rodríguez will undergo MRI on injured quad
Julio Rodríguez is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam after leaving Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays in the first inning due to discomfort in his lower right quad area.

Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder looked uncomfortable while tracking a fly ball in the outfield during the top half of the first inning, then he was replaced by Ty France before he had a chance to take his first at-bat. The Mariners should have the results of his imaging before Sunday’s game, so expect another update on his status before then. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:38 pm

    • Dealing with quad issue
Mariners manager Scott Servais said that Rodriguez was removed in the second inning of Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays with discomfort in his lower right quadricep and will undergo an MRI, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: An explanation for Rodriguez's early removal wasn't immediately provided Saturday, but Servais shed more light on the matter after the game. The extent of Rodriguez's injury is still unknown, however, so the results of his MRI will be more telling. Rodriguez can be viewed as day-to-day heading into Sunday's series finale before the Mariners provide another update on his status. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:35 pm
