    • Back in starting lineup
Heyward (back) is starting in right field and batting eighth in Friday's game against the Reds, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Heyward appeared in just five games for the Dodgers, going 3-for-14 with two RBI before landing on the 10-day injured list April 3 due to lower-back tightness. It took about a month for the 34-year-old to return to baseball activities, and he appeared in two games with Triple-A Oklahoma City earlier in the week, going 0-for-6 with one walk and two strikeouts. A corresponding move to make room for Heyward has not yet been announced. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

    • Dodgers activate Jason Heyward (back) from IL
Dodgers activated OF Jason Heyward from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: As anticipated, the 34-year-old slugger will slot right back into the Dodgers’ lineup on Friday night — starting in right field and batting eighth against Reds’ right-hander Frankie Montas. No word yet on the corresponding move to activate Heyward, but it’s definitely not Andy Pages, who is starting in center field and batting seventh for the Dodgers on Friday night. • Justin Turner returns to Jays’ lineup on Friday
Justin Turner returned to the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Rays.

Advice: After missing the previous three games due to illness, Turner will jump right back in as the Jays’ designated hitter and will bat cleanup against Tyler Alexander and the Rays on Friday evening. On the season, the 39-year-old is hitting .246/.317/.405 with four homers and 16 RBI in 37 games. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Back in lineup
Turner (illness) is back in the lineup as the designated hitter for Friday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Turner was one of three sick Toronto players and missed the starting lineup for team's last three games due to the illness. The primary designated hitter will return against Tampa Bay, slashing .246/.317/.405 on the season with 16 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 12:11 pm

    • Happ moves into the No. 2 hole Friday
Ian Happ will bat second for the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: With Seiya Suzuki getting the day off, Happ will occupy the No. 2 spot in the order for the Cubs. He hit a solo home run on Thursday, but now draws a tough assignment against Pirates top pitching prospect Paul Skenes on Friday afternoon. Rotoworld Today, 8:33 am

    • Takes live batting practice
Swanson (knee) took live batting practice Friday, Ryan Herrera of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Swanson landed on the 10-day injured list a week ago with a right knee injury. He'll be eligible for activation Saturday, but while it appears he is making progress, it seems unlikely that he will be ready at that time. With Nico Hoerner (hamstring) also banged up, the Cubs' shortstop depth has thinned, and Miles Mastrobuoni has started the last three games. Rotowire.com Today, 8:27 am

    • Heyward (back) done with rehab
Jason Heyward (back) has finished rehabbing his lower back issue that has sidelined him since late March.

Advice: Heyward was with the team at Dodgers Stadium on Thursday and manager Dave Roberts told reporters he will be activated soon. It remains a question what the corresponding move for Heyward’s activation will be. Enrique Hernandez and Chris Taylor have both struggled this season, but they can also play multiple positions and Taylor is owed $13 million in 2025. James Outman was a revelation last year, but he has options remaining and is hitting .147 this year. Outman could be the de facto choice. Heyward slashed .269/.340/.473 in 124 games with the Dodgers last year. Rotoworld Today, 6:58 am

    • Happ leaves the yard Thursday
Ian Happ went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Pirates on Thursday.

Advice: The homer was just Happ’s second of the year. It has undeniably been a down year for the 29-year-old outfielder. His power has cratered as his ISO is just .100 compared to his career .198 ISO. Most of Happ’s utility comes from playing everyday. He’s played 158 games in each of the last two seasons. Last season was his best year as he was able to compile 21 home runs, 86 runs scored, 84 RBI, and 14 stolen bases. He won’t be able to reach those numbers this season, but his $20 million average annual value should still keep him in the lineup everyday.

    • Return imminent
Heyward (back) rejoined the Dodgers on Thursday but was not activated from the injured list, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Heyward began a rehab assignment Tuesday and appeared in two games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, during which he went 0-for-6. Manager Dave Roberts said Heyward is ready to return soon, so it's likely he'll be activated at some point during the Dodgers' weekend series against the Reds. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:18 pm
