    • Adley Rutschman swats grand slam in loss to Royals
Adley Rutschman went 3-for-5 with a grand slam in a 9-4 loss by the Orioles to the Royals on Friday.

Advice: With the Orioles trailing 6-0, Rutschman got the Orioles back into the game with a bases-loaded blast off Will Smith in the seventh inning. The 26-year-old has now homered twice in 2024, and he’s up to 11 RBI over the first 18 games. Rutschman may never be an elite power option, but this is obviously not a dink-and-dunk hitter, either. • Will continue rehab assignment
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Buehler (elbow) needs at least one more rehab outing before returning to the rotation, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Buehler struggled in his rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across 2.2 innings. Roberts noted that Buehler's execution Thursday was "not great," and the right-hander will continue his rehab assignment until his command improves. Landon Knack will stay in the Dodgers' rotation for at least one more start. Rotowire.com Today, 4:27 pm

    • Walker Buehler to make one additional rehab start
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Friday that Walker Buehler (elbow) will make at least one additional minor league rehab start before joining the team’s rotation.

Advice: The 29-year-old hurler struggled with his command in his latest start on Thursday, ultimately allowing two runs over 2 2/3 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City — throwing a total of 68 pitches. That means that Landon Knack will stick around to start again — likely on Wednesday against the Nationals in Washington. Rotoworld Today, 4:23 pm

    • Day off Friday
Springer isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup for Friday's game against San Diego.

Advice: Springer will catch a breather after going 2-for-10 with four walks during Toronto's previous series against the Yankees. While he sits, Cavan Biggio will shift to right field, allowing Davis Schneider to pick up a start at second base while batting fourth. Rotowire.com Today, 3:37 pm
    • George Springer not in Blue Jays’ lineup on Friday
George Springer is not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Friday night’s soiree against the Padres.

Advice: It appears to be just a routine night off for the 34-year-old outfielder. Cavan Biggio will start in his place in right field and will bat seventh against Padres’ knuckleballer Matt Waldron. Expect Springer to be back in there on Saturday. Rotoworld Today, 3:33 pm
    • Underwhelming rehab appearance
Buehler (elbow) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across 2.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Advice: Buehler was expected to throw between 80 and 90 pitches, though his struggles with control limited the length of his outing. He particularly struggled with his offspeed and breaking pitches, as he threw 15 combined curveballs and sliders -- only two of which went for strikes. Though the outing wasn't positive, it could come as some consolation that this was Buehler's first time pitching with an automated strike zone, per Oklahoma City Director of Communications Alex Freedman. It's possible that this was Buehler's final rehab outing before rejoining the big-league rotation, but the Dodgers are expected to assess the situation before making a final decision. • Walker Buehler struggles Thursday in rehab start
Walker Buehler (elbow) surrendered two runs over 2 2/3 innings on Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: Buehler needed 26 pitches to get through the opening frame and didn’t make it out of the third inning of this one, departing after just 68 pitches. He struck out three and also issued four walks. The big concern here is that he wasn’t able to sufficiently build up his pitch count and might wind up needing another rehab outing before finally returning to Los Angeles’ starting rotation mix. There should be a decision regarding his next step at some point in the coming days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:06 pm

    • Tyler O’Neill (concussion) targets Tuesday return
Tyler O’Neill (concussion) is hoping to return for next Tuesday’s series opener against the Guardians.

Advice: O’Neill confirmed Thursday to reporters that he’s been diagnosed with a concussion and has been dealing with some dizziness and lightheadedness. He added that he was feeling a bit better on Thursday a few days after a brutal on-field collision with teammate Rafael Devers. He’ll travel with the team this weekend, despite being on the 7-day concussion injured list, and is hoping to be ready to return when first eligible next week. There should be some clarity on his status at some point this weekend or early next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:25 pm

    • Hopes to return when eligible
O'Neill (concussion) will travel with the Red Sox to Pittsburgh this weekend and hopes to be activated when first eligible Tuesday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: O'Neill confirmed that he has a concussion as a result of his collision with Rafael Devers on Monday, but he's feeling better and is aiming for a minimum absence. It's too soon to count on that, of course, given the uncertain nature of concussions. O'Neill is third in baseball with seven home runs this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:03 pm
