    • Getting day off Tuesday
Hayes is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Hayes had made seven consecutive starts -- going 3-for-25 (.120) at the plate with three RBI during that stretch -- but will give way to Jared Triolo at third base Tuesday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:47 pm
    • Coming off IL
Triple-A Norfolk reinstated Holliday (elbow) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: As part of his recovery, Holliday will serve exclusively as a designated hitter for multiple weeks and refrain from throwing. The 20-year-old hasn't seen any big-league action since April and is slashing .259/.424/.455 with seven home runs and five steals over 245 plate appearances with Norfolk. • Jackson Holliday (elbow) returns off injured list
Oriole INF prospect Jackson Holliday was reinstated off the seven-day injured list by Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Holliday missed 10 days while dealing with inflammation in his elbow. The 20-year-old top prospect will be back in the lineup, but only as a designated hitter for the time being. If Holliday performs well, he still has a chance to return to Baltimore before the 2024 season comes to an end. Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:06 am

    • Goes deep in loss
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Garcia gave the Rangers a 3-1 lead with his sixth-inning blast, though the advantage was wiped out on a Rhys Hoskins grand slam in the bottom of the frame. As with Hoskins, Garcia's homer ended an extended power drought -- the outfielder hadn't gone deep in any of his past 17 games and had driven in just one run during that span. Garcia is tied for the Rangers' lead with 14 long balls on the season, but he's below pace to match the 39 homers and 107 RBI he racked up last year. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:51 pm
    • Ohtani walks, hits sac fly in win over White Sox
Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI against the White Sox on Monday.

Advice: It was a quiet game for the Dodgers offense against White Sox starter Garrett Crochet. Ohtani hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to give Los Angeles a 3-0 lead. It was his 58th RBI on the season. He trails only Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna for the National League lead in RBI. Ohtani is hitting .318 with a 1.021 OPS on the season. • Robert Jr. has double, two walks in loss Monday
Luis Robert Jr. went 1-for-2 with a double and two walks against the Dodgers on Monday.

Advice: Robert Jr. only has 91 at-bats this season, but he’s hitting .198 with a 35 percent strikeout percentage. For one of the most talked about potential trade pieces in baseball, he’s really had a rough season. Robert Jr.'s BABIP is only .217, which is well below his career .328 BABIP, but he still needs to cut his strikeouts. Maybe the two walks show that he’s seeing it better at the plate and he can start to turn his season around with a little more than a month before the trade deadline. • Plays catch from 90 feet
Ohtani (elbow) played catch from 90 feet Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Advice: Ohtani is throwing from 90 feet for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last September. He continues to progress in his rehab with no issues, and he's certainly shown no ill effects at the plate as a result of his ongoing recovery from the elbow issue. The Dodgers haven't ruled out the possibility of Ohtani playing the outfield at some point in 2024, though that still seems like a long shot. He will continue to serve as the club's designated hitter, with an eye on resuming two-way duties in 2025. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:12 pm

    • Stuck in reserve role sans Bichette
Clement is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Toronto has a spot open its everyday infield after Bo Bichette (calf) was placed on the injured list Tuesday, but Clement doesn't look as though he'll be the main beneficiary. Clement will take a seat for the second straight game while Addison Barger gets another start at third base as Isiah Kiner-Falefa shifts over to Bichette's usual spot at shortstop. • Cardinals officially activate Contreras off the IL
Cardinals activated C Willson Contreras (forearm) off the 10-day IL.

Advice: It was a quick turnaround for Contreras who had surgery back in early May to repair a fractured left forearm when he was hit by J.D. Martinez’s swing. We should expect the Cardinals to ease Contreras in during the first couple of weeks with an extra day off or two, but his bat will be a welcome addition to the Cardinals’ lineup and fantasy lineups as well. Nick Raposo has been optioned to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Monday, 12:43 pm
