Edwin Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth with a one-run lead for his seventh save Tuesday against the Rangers.
Advice: The ninth started with a bloop single that third baseman Mark Vientos probably should have caught in shallow left, but it appeared he got spooked by Brandon Nimmo’s arrival. Fortunately, the ball was hit by Johan Heim, who settled for a single when an average runner might have gotten a double. A double play followed, and Díaz then got a flyout to end the game.
