    • Jesús Luzardo fires eight innings, earns win
Jesús Luzardo pitched eight strong innings allowing just three hits and no earned runs in a 1-0 over the Brewers on Wednesday. He struck out four and walked none.

Advice: For the second straight start, Luzardo was tremendous despite falling fastball velocity . His fastball averaged 94.1 MPH on Wednesday, down nearly two ticks off this year’s average and three from last season. Still, his fastball, changeup, and slider each induced six whiffs while the changeup was especially tough on right-handed batters. There’s concern though with the velocity coming off an early season elbow strain. Rotoworld Today, 5:54 pm
    • Evan Phillips to throw live bullpen on Thursday
Evan Phillips (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session on Thursday at High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Advice: If all goes well with that session, he’ll begin a minor league rehab assignment there on Sunday. Phillips should only need a couple of tune-ups there before he’s ready to rejoin the Dodgers’ bullpen and return to his closer’s role. Rotoworld Today, 5:06 pm

    • Triston McKenzie gives up three homers to Mets
Triston McKenzie gave up three runs — all of them on solo homers — over five innings Wednesday versus the Mets.

Advice: Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil and Harrison Bader hit the homers. McKenzie averaged a season-low 89.7 mph with his fastball today, down from 91.0 previously and 92.4 mph before he hurt his elbow last year. It’s impressive that he has a 3.44 ERA to date, but he doesn’t seem like a very good bet at this point. Rotoworld Today, 1:55 pm
    • Shaky in no-decision
McKenzie did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Advice: McKenzie didn't appear to have his best stuff Wednesday, as he'd allow three solo homers before departing with a 3-0 deficit in the sixth inning. However, the Guardians would rally for six unanswered runs in an eventual victory, sparing McKenzie the loss. Still, it's the first time in seven starts that McKenzie's allowed more than two earned runs -- he came into the day with a 2.10 ERA over his prior six outings. Overall, the 26-year-old right-hander sports a 3.44 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB over 10 starts (52.1 innings) this season. McKenzie's next start is currently lined up for early next week against the Rockies in Colorado. Rotowire.com Today, 1:40 pm
    • Back in lineup Wednesday
Garcia (forearm) will serve as the Rangers' designated hitter and cleanup batter in Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: The Rangers held Garcia out of the lineup for the past two games while he contended with right forearm discomfort, but he's made enough improvement to enter the starting nine Wednesday, albeit in a non-defensive role. Provided the injury doesn't affect his throwing for too much longer, Garcia should be ready to return to his usual spot in right field in the coming days. Rotowire.com Today, 1:28 pm

    • Adolis Garcia (forearm) returns to Rangers’ lineup
Adolis Garcia (forearm) returned to the Rangers’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s showdown against the Phillies.

Advice: After missing a pair of games due to a forearm issue, the 31-year-old slugger is right back in there for the Rangers on Wednesday evening. He has been a force in the middle of the lineup once again this season — slashing .251/.297/.491 with 11 homers, 35 RBI and four stolen bases. Rotoworld Today, 1:12 pm

    • Returns to bench role
Clement is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Clement started at third base in six consecutive games from May 10 through 17, but he's since moved back into a utility role with the likes of Justin Turner, Kevin Kiermaier and George Springer all returning to full health after missing out on multiple starts due to illnesses. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has since moved back to the hot corner after previously seeing most of his time at second base when the Blue Jays weren't at full strength. Rotowire.com Today, 12:08 pm

    • Could return this weekend
Maeda (illness) could return from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday or Sunday versus the Blue Jays, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Petzold notes that Maeda is lined up to pitch this weekend, but the Tigers haven't yet divulged any official plans on that front. The right-hander has been on the shelf since mid-May with a viral illness but made a three-inning rehab start this past weekend for Triple-A Toledo and got through a bullpen session Wednesday with no concerns. Matt Manning is slated to make another start for Detroit on Friday but could be sent back down after that to make room for Maeda in the rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 10:15 am

    • Settles for quality start Tuesday
Webb came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Pirates, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander delivered his third straight quality start and eighth of 2024 on 103 pitches (72 strikes), and Webb left the mound in line for his fifth win of the year only to watch Camilo Doval blow his first save of the season in the ninth inning. Webb will take a 3.03 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB through 65.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend against the Mets. Rotowire.com Today, 7:29 am
