      King (5-5) allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Brewers.

      Advice: King had given up a total of five runs across his previous five outings, but he had just one win in that span despite a 34:9 K:BB over 26.2 innings. He wasn't as good Sunday, as the Brewers pieced together a two-out rally in the second inning that accounted for four of the five runs on his line. King is now at a 3.75 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP and 109:38 K:BB through 93.2 innings over 17 appearances (16 starts) this season. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at Boston.     • Michael King tagged for five runs in loss Sunday
      Michael King struggled in a losing effort against the Brewers on Sunday afternoon, giving up five runs on nine hits over his six innings of work.

      Advice: King helped to salvage his day, at least from a fantasy perspective, by racking up eight strikeouts and issuing just one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came in the second inning, as the Brewers strung together five singles and a triple to push five runs across. He settled in nicely after that and finished his day with four scoreless frames, but it was too late at that point. King got 11 swings and misses on 97 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 31 percent. The highly inconsistent right-hander will carry a 3.75 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 109/38 K/BB ratio (93 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Red Sox in Boston. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:52 pm

    • Takes step toward return
      Musgrove (elbow) lightly threw weighted plyometric balls Thursday, MLB.com reports.

      Advice: A previous report indicated Musgrove could play catch around the middle of the week, but it turns out the extent of his throwing was the work he did with the plyo balls. The workout was, however, a step in his progression toward playing catch, which could happen before the end of the month.     • Stuck with loss in quality start
      Crawford (3-7) took the loss Friday as the Red Sox fell 5-2 to the Reds, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Some defensive misadventures by Boston softened the blow to the right-hander's ERA and allowed him to escape with his third straight quality start and eighth of the season, but it's hard to ignore the issues Crawford has had of late keeping the ball in the park. He's been tagged for multiple homers in three straight outings and served up at least one in seven straight, stumbling to a 5.36 ERA over the latter stretch despite a 1.19 WHIP and 43:12 K:BB through 40.1 innings.       Advice: Crawford surrendered three homers tonight, bringing his total allowed to seven in his last three starts. He’s given up at least one in seven straight outings.     • Ekes out quality start Wednesday
      Pfaadt (3-6) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits and four walks over 6.1 innings as the Diamondbacks fell 3-1 to the Nationals. He failed to strike out a batter.

      Advice: To say the 25-year-old right-hander wasn't fooling anyone Wednesday would be an understatement. Pfaadt not only came up empty in strikeouts while issuing a season high in walks, he didn't generate a single swinging strike among his 77 pitches. He was still able to produce enough weak contact to deliver his second straight quality start and eighth of the season, however. Pfaadt will take a 4.37 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 84:22 K:BB through 90.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Twins.       Miller gave up five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over 6.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Wednesday.

      Advice: Miller missed over two months with a shoulder injury, and making his return at Coors Field was always going to be a tough task. He left the game with a lead in the seventh inning, but the Dodgers couldn't stay ahead. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 6.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB over 18 innings through four starts this season. Miller continues to have plenty of upside as a young pitcher supported by a strong offense, but it may take him a few starts to get fully comfortable again in the majors.       Bobby Miller allowed five runs with two strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Wednesday.

      Advice: Colorado isn’t exactly the best place to make a return off the injured list. He served up a three-run shot to Michael Toglia in the first inning. Miller then gave up one more run in the fourth before pitching into the seventh. He gave up a leadoff double and was replaced on the mound with one out. The inherited runner came in to score.       The Dodgers activated Miller (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Wednesday against the Rockies, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Timesreports.

      Advice: The right-hander has been sidelined by shoulder inflammation since mid-April, but he's ready to rejoin the big-league rotation after a four-start rehab assignment in the minors. Miller posted a 5.40 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB over 11.2 frames in three outings prior to the injury. Walker Buehler (hip) is headed to the injured list in a corresponding move.
