    • Jeffrey Springs strikes out six in rehab start
Jeffrey Springs (elbow) looked sharp in his latest minor league rehab start at Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, racking up six strikeouts over four scoreless innings.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw scattered three hits on the night and didn’t walk a batter. Springs was also efficient in this one, needing just 47 pitches (35 strikes) to navigate his four frames. He’s probably going to need a couple more starts to build up that pitch count before he becomes an option to join the Rays’ rotation, but we could be seeing him shortly after the All-Star break. • Jordan Hicks solid, loses touch in fifth inning
Jordan Hicks allowed three earned runs across five innings on Wednesday against the Braves. He allowed eight hits and two walks while striking out six in defeat.

Advice: Four of the eight hits the Braves got off Hicks came with two outs in that fifth inning when the lineup turned over for a third time. The inning could have been worse if Austin Riley hadn’t been thrown out at the plate. Still, it was nice to see Hicks’ sweeper induce 10 swings-and-misses as he leaned on that pitch instead of his splitter. Rotoworld Today, 6:58 pm

    • Jared Jones completes five frames vs. Cardinals
Jared Jones struck out five and yielded one run over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Cardinals.

Advice: Pittsburgh continues to carefully manage their prized rookie right-hander’s workload this season as Jones was limited to just 78 pitches (52 strikes) over five innings in this one after spinning seven innings on 94 pitches his last time out against the Rays. The 22-year-old rookie sensation generated 10 swinging strikes, with eight of those coming on his slider alone, and finished with a solid 33 percent CSW. He’ll bring a strong 3.56 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 98/27 K/BB ratio across 91 innings (16 starts) into a home outing on Monday against the Mets in his penultimate start prior to the Midsummer Classic. • Miles Mikolas rebounds Wednesday with quality start
Miles Mikolas struck out four and allowed two runs over six innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Advice: Mikolas was long gone before this one was decided in extra innings, but he still managed to get through six frames without any major implosions, unlike his last time out when he was torched for 10 runs (nine earned) over 4 1/3 innings against the Reds. The 35-year-old veteran righty will aim to keep the momentum going on Monday when he faces off against the Nationals in a road matchup. Rotoworld Today, 6:47 pm

    • Starting Thursday
Shuster will start Thursday's game against the Guardians, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Shuster has appeared in 17 games for the White Sox this season, posting a 3.15 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 34.1 innings, but Thursday will mark his first start of the year. The 25-year-old southpaw worked almost exclusively as a starter throughout his professional career before joining the White Sox in the offseason, so he should be able to pitch well into Thursday's game before Chicago turns to its bullpen. • Tigers recall Keider Montero to start on Wednesday
Tigers recalled RHP Keider Montero from Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: The 23-year-old right-hander will take the place of the injured Casey Mize (hamstring) in the team’s rotation. He’ll start on Wednesday night against the Twins. Montero has already made two appearances with the Tigers this season, registering a 9.35 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and an 11/4 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings. He shouldn’t be considered as a streaming option on Wednesday night against the high-powered Twins’ offense. Rotoworld Today, 3:07 pm

    • RHP Dean Kremer activated from 10-day IL
Orioles activated RHP Dean Kremer from 10-day injured list.

Advice: Kremer is set to start Wednesday’s game against the Mariners opposite Logan Gilbert. Kremer is returning from a triceps injury. He is 3-4 with a 4.32 ERA on the season. Kremer could be a streaming option in deeper formats. Rotoworld Today, 11:43 am

    • Activated ahead of start
The Orioles activated Kremer (triceps) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Kremer will rejoin the Orioles' rotation with a start Wednesday against the Mariners. He missed six weeks of action with a right triceps strain and did not pitch well on a rehab assignment, posting an 11.42 ERA and 9:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings. Even with a plus matchup on tap versus Seattle, fantasy managers might be wise to give Kremer a start or two before activating him. Rotowire.com Today, 11:25 am

    • Expected to get multiple turns
The Tigers recalled Montero from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Montero will draw the start Wednesday in Minnesota. While he's technically filling in for Jack Flaherty (back) on Wednesday, Montero will receive multiple turns as a replacement for Casey Mize (hamstring), per manager A.J. Hinch. Montero has allowed nine runs with an 11:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings with the Tigers this season and holds a 5.03 ERA and 54:30 K:BB across 48.1 frames for Toledo. Rotowire.com Today, 9:28 am
