      According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, rival team execs believe it’s more likely that Pete Alonso is not traded at the deadline.

      Advice: Nightengale mentioned that “rival teams who have expressed interest” in Alonso are “convinced” he will “definitely stay put as long as the Mets are within five games of the wild-card race.” As of now, the Mets are just two games back and are 12-4 over their last 16 games. If the Mets do keep Alonso beyond the trade deadline, they will need to then decide how badly they want to extend him, but it would take one of the biggest power bats off the trade block this season.       Advice: Smith got the start at shortstop with Corey Seager (wrist) day-to-day. Seager was hit by a pitch during Saturday's game and, although X-rays came back negative, took a seat for the series finale against the Orioles. The Rangers are off Monday, giving Seager another 24 hours of healing, before a three-game set against the Padres. Once Seager is deemed healthy enough to return to shortstop, Smith will head back to third base, where he will continue to fill in for the injured Josh Jung (wrist). While Candelario was out, Noelvi Marte was reinstated from a suspension and became the regular starter at third base. That means Candelario will move to either DH or first base.       Advice: Ramos knocked an RBI double and scored a run in the fourth inning before doubling and scoring again in the eighth. The 24-year-old outfielder has cooled off a bit in the second half of the month, going just 10-for-50 (.200) over his last 12 games.       Advice: Paxton gave up four runs through three frames before the Giants piled on with a five-run fourth inning. The veteran southpaw had a very odd month of June; he gave up six earned runs in 1.2 innings against the Pirates on June 5 but allowed just two total runs over his next three outings before Sunday's unraveling. Overall, he posted a 6.46 ERA this month, raising his season mark to 4.28 through 15 starts. Paxton's next start is currently lined up to be at home against the Brewers. The right-hander will have to go back to the drawing board to improve his ugly 7.48 ERA. His next start is tentatively scheduled for next weekend against the Angels.
