    • Hunter Brown struggles against Twins on Saturday
Hunter Brown allowed seven runs with five strikeouts over six innings in a loss to the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: Brown had quite the forgettable day on the mound as he surrendered seven runs to the Twins. The seven runs matched the total runs he’s allowed over his last eight starts combined. Three hits, a hit batter, and a sacrifice fly brought two runs in to score in the first. Minnesota brought three more runs in on four hits and a walk in the second. And Brooks Lee would hit a two-run homer in the third. Brown worked three more scoreless innings before his day was done at 105 pitches. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 4.48 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 100/36 K/BB ratio across 92 1/3 innings into a start against the Rangers in Houston on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 1:51 pm
    • Kyle Hendricks exits start with back tightness
Kyle Hendricks was removed from Saturday’s start against the Angels due to lower back tightness.

Advice: It’s concerning because Hendricks missed a couple weeks earlier this season due to a back issue. The 34-year-old righty was tagged for two runs on four hits over two innings before leaving Saturday’s contest at Wrigley Field. He’ll presumably undergo some additional testing to determine the severity of the issue. Rotoworld Today, 12:26 pm

    • Leaves game with back tightness
Hendricks was removed in the third inning of Saturday's game against the Angels due to lower back tightness, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Hendricks lasted just two innings Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one. The 34-year-old right-hander was on the injured list earlier in the season due to lower-back strain, and it appears he aggravated the injury. Expect an update on the severity of the injury following Saturday's game. Rotowire.com Today, 12:26 pm

    • Racks up three hits
Fermin went 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Fermin has three multi-hit efforts over his last eight games, but that's a span that dates back to June 20. The backup catcher is making the most of his opportunities this year, slashing .303/.355/.439 with four home runs, 19 RBI, 24 runs scored and nine doubles over 169 plate appearances. Fermin's reliability has allowed Salvador Perez to rest or serve as designated hitter regularly. Fermin's playing time had declined while Michael Massey was limited to DH duties, but Massey has been cleared to play the field and should see more time at second base in the second half. • Out again Saturday
Smith (glute) isn't in the Rangers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Smith missed four games in June due to glute tightness, and he'll be missing his second consecutive game Saturday due to the same injury. Jonathan Ornelas will pick up another start at third base and bat ninth while Smith continues to recover. Rotowire.com Today, 9:45 am

    • Josh Smith remains out Saturday with glute issue
Josh Smith (lower body) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Rays.

Advice: Smith remains on the bench to open Saturday’s showdown after sitting out Friday’s game against the Rays due to glute tightness. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward, but the Rangers clearly don’t want to take any chances here. It’ll be Jonathan Ornelas drawing another start at the hot corner in his absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Today, 9:43 am

    • Belts clutch homer Friday
Profar went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 10-8 win against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Profar's long ball was a big one, as it knotted up the score in the bottom of the ninth after Arizona had taken the lead with a six-run top of the frame. It also gave the outfielder two consecutive contests with a homer following a 19-game stretch during which he went deep just once. Profar is in the midst of his best big-league campaign, slashing .316/.409/.490 with 13 home runs, 57 RBI, 51 runs and five stolen bases over 364 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 7:20 am
    • Fighting slump
Candelario went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 5-4 loss to Detroit.

Advice: The steal was the fourth of the season for Candelario, who swiped a career-high eight bags in 2023. The corner infielder/designated hitter, who reversed a season-opening slump in June, is back on the skids. Candelario is 3-for-28 with a 30-percent strikeout rate over the last seven games. • Doyle hits go-ahead two-run double against Royals
Brenton Doyle hit a go-ahead two-run double to give the Rockies a 4-2 win over the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Doyle turned a 2-2 game into a 4-2 lead with the Rockies with a ground-rule double that scored Aaron Schunk and Ryan McMahon and ultimately gave Colorado the victory. After being one of the worst offensive players in baseball in 2024, Doyle has shocked with a very useable slash of .274/.335/.436, and his .731 OPS is quite the improvement on his .593 mark in 2023.
