    • Ronel Blanco reinstated for start against A’s
      Astros activated RHP Ronel Blanco.

Advice: Blanco was suspended for 10 games after being detected for a foreign substance on his glove He’ll get the start Sunday against the Athletics for the series finale. He should be activated from fantasy lineups for that outing. Rotoworld Sunday, 7:03 am

    • Back from suspension, starting Sunday
Blanco (suspension) was reinstated to the Astros' 26-man active roster Sunday and will start Houston's series finale versus the Athletics in Oakland.

Advice: As had been reported days earlier, Blanco will immediately slot back into the Houston rotation now that he's completed his 10-game ban after he was deemed to have used a foreign substance during his most recent start May 14, also versus Oakland. Assuming Blanco was able to stay fully ramped up while he was serving his suspension, he shouldn't face many restrictions when he takes the hill Sunday. Blanco has been a revelation for the Astros this season, compiling a 4-0 record, 2.09 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 45:21 K:BB in 47.1 innings across eight starts. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:51 am

    • Rehab start could come next week
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that there's a chance Cole (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment as soon as the upcoming week, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Cole threw a live batting practice session Saturday without issue, marking the second time he's faced hitters since he resumed a throwing program. According to Erik Boland of Newsday, Cole utilized all of his pitches in the simulated game and reached 95 miles per hour on his fastball, a velocity limit the Yankees had imposed on him prior to the throwing session as a matter of precaution. Cole could be asked to throw another live BP, but beginning a rehab assignment also appears to be on the table. Cole will need multiple rehab starts before returning from the injured list and joining the Yankees rotation, so he's still a few weeks away from making his 2024 debut with the big club. • Gerrit Cole (elbow) faces hitters again Saturday
Gerrit Cole (elbow) faced hitters on Saturday in a simulated game.

Advice: The emergence of dynamic righty Luis Gil has lessened the urgency for New York to rush Cole back in their starting rotation mix. The 33-year-old righty hasn’t ruled out a potential June return, but he’s going to need to progress to at least a handful of minor league rehab starts to build up his pitch count and stamina before that happens. • On base three times Friday
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a walk and a double in Friday's loss to the Tigers.

Advice: It marks the fourth time in the last seven games that Guerrero has banged out multiple hits. The first baseman has put a sluggish start to the season behind him, and over the last month he's slashing .382/.455/.517 in 23 games with two homers, a steal, 13 runs and 14 RBI. • Facing hitters again Saturday
Cole (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Saturday, Chris Kirschner of The Athleticreports.

Advice: It will be the second time Cole has faced live hitters, with his first session taking place Tuesday when he threw about 20 pitches. While Cole is eligible to return from the 60-day IL at the end of May, he'll need multiple rehab starts before joining the Yankees' rotation. Rotowire.com Friday, 4:39 pm

    • Shut down after cortisone injection
Senga (shoulder) has been shut down from throwing for three-to-five days after he received a cortisone shot Friday for inflammation in his triceps, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 31-year-old was scratched from a bullpen session last weekend due to triceps tightness, and he underwent an MRI this week that revealed the inflammation. Senga appeared to be close to beginning a rehab assignment as he works his way back from a shoulder capsule strain, but the triceps issue has halted his progress and further clouds his return timeline. • Kodai Senga shut down after latest setback
Kodai Senga (shoulder) will be shut down for the next three-to-five days due to inflammation in his triceps.

Advice: The 31-year-old right-hander had been scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Friday, but that was scrapped due to the new issue. It has seemingly been one setback after another for Senga as he has attempted to come back from his shoulder injury. There’s no clear timetable as to when he may finally ready to make his 2024 season debut. Rotoworld Friday, 1:10 pm

    • Double, homer in win
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a double, a two-run home run and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Tigers.

Advice: Guerrero went hitless in his first three at-bats before sending Danny Jansen to third with a double in the top of the eighth inning. The first baseman wasn't done there, however, adding a two-run homer in the following frame as the Blue Jays blew out the Tigers 9-1. It marked Guerrero's seventh multi-hit game this month, and he's batting .371 in May with two homers, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored. The long ball was his first since May 5 against the Nationals.
