    • Strikes out nine in win
Verlander (3-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits and struck out nine without walking a batter Friday to earn the win over the Athletics.

Advice: Verlander has alternated quality starts with shorter outings over his seven outings this season, and this was one of his good ones. The nine strikeouts were a season high, and it was just the second time he hasn't walked a batter this year. The 41-year-old has a 3.60 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB through 40 innings. Verlander is projected to make his next start in Seattle. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:57 pm
    • Justin Verlander strikes out nine in win over A’s
Justin Verlander struck out nine while allowing two runs — one earned — over six innings to get a win over the Athletics on Friday.

Advice: The 41-year-old did allow eight hits, but the only earned run he gave up was a solo homer to J.J. Bleday in the fifth inning. The right-hander had his swing-and-miss stuff going Friday night, and was much more effective than his four-run, 4 2/3 inning start against Milwaukee last weekend. The future Hall of Famer isn’t the same pitcher as he was a few years ago, but he’s more than capable of getting the job done. Rotoworld Friday, 9:15 pm
    • Out with triceps strain
The Orioles placed Kremer on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 21, with a right triceps strain.

Advice: The right-hander was scheduled to start Saturday against the White Sox but will now be unavailable for at least the next couple weeks. It's yet another blow to Baltimore's rotation, which also lost John Means to a forearm strain earlier this week. Kremer will be eligible to return in early June, though it's unclear when he's expected to be healthy. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:33 pm

    • Orioles place Dean Kremer (triceps) on 15-day IL
Orioles placed RHP Dean Kremer on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 21, with a right triceps strain.

Advice: Kremer sustained the injury during Monday’s loss to the Cardinals. No word yet on exactly how long he’ll be sidelined for. Dillon Tate was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move to add some depth to the Orioles’ bullpen while they decide how to handle Kramer’s spot in the rotation. • Bounces back against Marlins
Peralta (3-3) took the loss Wednesday against Miami, allowing one run on four hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Peralta was locked into a pitcher's duel with Jesus Luzardo, with a leadoff home run by Jazz Chisholm in the first inning being enough to push Peralta into the loss column. Still, fantasy managers saw the dominant version of Peralta that garnered early Cy Young consideration before his ERA ballooned from 1.90 on April 19 to 4.17 before Wednesday's outing. Through the ups and downs, Peralta's strikeout production has maintained, with 71 K's across 56.2 innings on the year. The 28-year-old is lined up to pitch Monday against the Cubs at American Family Field. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:12 pm

    • Freddy Peralta handed tough-luck loss
Freddy Peralta fired seven one-run innings on Wednesday striking out seven and walking one in a loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Peralta’s only mistake was a 3-1 fastball to Jazz Chisholm in the first inning that wound up in the seats. Even in that at-bat Peralta missed some borderline pitches to fall behind. Still, he was fantastic Wednesday after scuffling to a 6.19 ERA May. He likely has better times ahead while his strikeout rate stays high and walk rate stays manageable. • Triston McKenzie gives up three homers to Mets
Triston McKenzie gave up three runs — all of them on solo homers — over five innings Wednesday versus the Mets.

Advice: Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil and Harrison Bader hit the homers. McKenzie averaged a season-low 89.7 mph with his fastball today, down from 91.0 previously and 92.4 mph before he hurt his elbow last year. It’s impressive that he has a 3.44 ERA to date, but he doesn’t seem like a very good bet at this point. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:55 pm
    • Shaky in no-decision
McKenzie did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Advice: McKenzie didn't appear to have his best stuff Wednesday, as he'd allow three solo homers before departing with a 3-0 deficit in the sixth inning. However, the Guardians would rally for six unanswered runs in an eventual victory, sparing McKenzie the loss. Still, it's the first time in seven starts that McKenzie's allowed more than two earned runs -- he came into the day with a 2.10 ERA over his prior six outings. Overall, the 26-year-old right-hander sports a 3.44 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB over 10 starts (52.1 innings) this season. McKenzie's next start is currently lined up for early next week against the Rockies in Colorado. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:40 pm
    • Walks four in no-decision
Morton allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out eight over five innings in a no-decision versus the Cubs on Tuesday.

Advice: Morton's last two starts have been against the Cubs, and both outings have seen him battle some control issues -- he walked seven batters over eight innings in those games. Tuesday's road outing was better than his start last Wednesday in Atlanta, but it still doesn't inspire a ton of confidence. The veteran right-hander is now at a 3.35 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 52:21 K:BB over 51 innings through nine starts this season. Morton's next start is projected to be at home versus the Nationals.
