    • Takes seat after poor game Tuesday
Torres is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mets.

Advice: For the second game in a row, Torres was held hitless Tuesday in the Yankees' 9-7 loss, leaving him in a 2-for-29 slump at the dish over his last nine games. To make matters worse, Torres committed an error at second base and also didn't run out a grounder at full speed in the eighth inning, with the latter play not escaping manager Aaron Boone's attention, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Boone indicated that Torres is doing OK physically, but the skipper thought a day on the bench could be beneficial for the 27-year-old while he's in the midst of a rough patch. Oswaldo Cabrera will pick up the start at second base in place of Torres. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:16 pm
    • Gleyber Torres (groin) absent from lineup
Gleyber Torres, who complained of groin tightness after Tuesday’s game, is out of Wednesday’s lineup.

Advice: Torres was criticized for missing a grounder and not hustling to first last night, though the groin seemed to explain the latter and Aaron Boone seemed more concerned about the former. Oswaldo Cabrera is playing second base tonight. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:01 pm
    • Held out against righty again
Cowser is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Cowser belted his 10th home run of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Guardians, but he nonetheless finds himself on the bench for the second time during the three-game series. Both of those absences came against right-handed pitchers, so the lefty-hitting Cowser could be in danger of losing out on a regular spot in the outfield to fellow lefty hitter Heston Kjerstad, who will make his second start of the series following his call-up from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. • Colton Cowser sits against Guardians on Wednesday
Even though he homered Tuesday, Colton Cowser is on the bench in favor of Heston Kjerstad on Wednesday.

Advice: This hardly seems fair to Cowser. A left-handed hitter, he’s now been on the bench the last two times the Orioles have faced a righty and started both games against lefties, even though he has perfectly normal splits (.769 OPS versus righties, .679 OPS against lefties). If the Orioles keep using him like this, there’s a good chance they’ll eventually have a better excuse for sending him down. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:32 pm

    • Goes yard again
Ward went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run during Tuesday's 7-5 win over Oakland.

Advice: Ward launched a homer for the second consecutive night, tagging Sean Newcomb for a solo shot in the seventh inning. He's riding a five-game hit streak, batting 7-for-15 (.467) with five extra-base hits, five runs scored and a stolen base during that stretch. Ward also ranks top 20 in the AL in home runs and RBI. • Reaches 10-homer mark
Cowser went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 10-8 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Cowser has gone a modest 11-for-61 (.180) over 22 contests while seeing a part-time role in June. Five of his hits this month have gone for extra bases, and he's up to 10 homers on the year after Tuesday's long ball. He's slashing just .226/.317/.429 with 32 RBI, 29 runs scored and five stolen bases. Anthony Santander is about the only constant in the Orioles' outfield, leaving Cowser to compete with Cedric Mullins, Austin Hays and Heston Kjerstad for two positions on a regular basis. • Picks up steal
Kwan went 1-for-5 with one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 10-8 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Kwan has let his bat do the talking since he returned from a hamstring injury, going 33-for-75 (.440) over his last 19 contests. Predictably, he hasn't tried his luck much on the bases, going 1-for-2 in stolen base attempts in that span. He's now at a .385/.443/.563 slash line with seven home runs, 24 RBI, 48 runs scored and four steals over 51 contests, and it's safe to assume his speed will remain down given his history of hamstring issues. • Launches grand slam
Profar went 1-for-3 with a grand slam, a hit-by-pitch and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Profar gave the Padres the extra cushion they ultimately needed when he slugged a grand slam in the sixth inning. The Nationals attempted a comeback but fell short. After a brief absence with a knee injury over the weekend, Profar has resumed his hot hitting -- he's 10-for-36 (.278) with nine RBI during his nine-game hitting streak. For the season, the outfielder is at a stellar .317/.410/.488 slash line with 11 homers, 54 RBI, 45 runs scored and four stolen bases over 82 contests. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:48 pm
    • Jurickson Profar hits grand slam in Padres’ win
Jurickson Profar hit a grand slam Tuesday in the Padres’ 9-7 takedown of the Nationals.

Advice: This game had a little bit of everything, including a benches-clearing incident, a manager ejection, some extended player admiration of home runs, ugly defense, boneheaded baserunning and 16 runs in all. What it didn’t have was strikeouts; the teams totaled just five, and Nationals hitters went the first eight innings without any at all. Profar, coming off a walkoff hit Monday, was involved in the early confrontation that emptied the dugouts and then immediately was hit by a pitch after warnings were issued. Immediately after that, he scored on a Manny Machado homer. His slam, a line-drive homer down the right field line, was the fourth of his career. He’s now 5-for-5 with four extra-base hits and 17 RBI with the bases loaded this season. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:13 pm
