    • Seiya Suzuki (oblique) starting rehab assignment
Seiya Suzuki (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Suzuki is likely to return to Chicago’s lineup later this week on either Friday or Saturday when they take on the Pirates. The 29-year-old corner outfielder has been sidelined since mid-April due to a right oblique strain, which was expected to keep him on the shelf for at least one month. Rotoworld Today, 2:00 pm

    • Spencer Turnbull to pitch in relief on Tuesday night
Spencer Turnbull will pitch in relief during Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Turnbull is expected to piggyback with southpaw Cristopher Sánchez on Tuesday night when the Phillies take on the Blue Jays at Citizens Bank Park. The 31-year-old right-hander has been brilliant this season in his Philadelphia debut before Taijuan Walker’s return last week bumped him back to the bullpen. He figures to gobble up a couple frames in this contest, which will be his first appearance since last Tuesday when he allowed two runs over 5 1/3 frames against the Angels. Rotoworld Today, 1:58 pm
    • Will follow Sanchez in relief
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that Turnbull will pitch in relief Tuesday against the Blue Jays, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Thomson wouldn't reveal exactly how Turnbull will be used, but Gelb says the right-hander will likely pitch three innings or so in what could be a piggyback situation with starter Cristopher Sanchez. Turnbull was demoted to the Phillies recently in spite of a 1.67 ERA and 36:10 K:BB in 32.1 innings this season, as the team has an eye on his workload since he hasn't thrown more than 56.2 innings in a season since 2019. • Rehab stint starting Wednesday
Suzuki (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reported Tuesday.

Advice: Suzuki will begin the in-game portion of his rehab from a right oblique strain, a significant step in his recovery. Suzuki has been sidelined for around three weeks, and he could be back with the Cubs sometime this weekend, per Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network. Until he gets reinstated from the 10-day IL, Patrick Wisdom and Mike Tauchman should see more work. Rotowire.com Today, 12:58 pm

    • Goes deep Monday
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Marlins in Monday's 6-3 win.

Advice: Though his long ball didn't travel nearly as far, Freeman followed Shohei Ohtani in the first inning Monday as the pair slugged back-to-back homers. Freeman has yet to fully flex his power this season -- he has just three homers through 167 plate appearances -- but he's been otherwise productive, as usual, with a .292/.407/.445 slash line, 21 RBI, 18 runs and a stolen base. The veteran first baseman is also tied for seventh in the league with 10 doubles and tied for fifth with 24 walks. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:58 pm
    • Freddie Freeman homers as Dodgers top Marlins
Freddie Freeman hit a solo homer in a victory Monday over the Marlins.

Advice: Freeman went back-to-back with Shohei Ohtani, and his solo blast gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead. The 34-year-old hasn’t shown a ton of pop in the early portion of the year, as it’s just the third homer for the veteran first baseman in 2024. He’s hitting .292 with a .407 on-base percentage, however, and all of those numbers are sure to climb as we get deeper into the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:30 pm
    • Justin Steele sharp over 4 2/3 in return from IL
Justin Steele fired 4 2/3 shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Padres.

Advice: Steele limited San Diego’s offense to just three hits and one walk, notching a pair of strikeouts, in his return at Wrigley Field following a five-weeks absence due to a hamstring strain. The 28-year-old ace averaged nearly 92 mph on his four-seam fastball in this one and got his pitch count up to 68 (43 strikes) before being lifted in the fifth inning. He’s in line to face the Pirates on Sunday his next time out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:42 pm
    • Sharp in return
Steele allowed three hits and a walk over 4.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out two during the loss to San Diego.

Advice: Steele made his first start since straining his hamstring during his Opening Day outing. He showed no signs of rust but was clearly on a limit, as he threw only 68 pitches. He gave up one extra-base hit but otherwise kept San Diego's bats quiet. Steele has given up one run through 9.1 innings in two starts this season. The 28-year-old should be able to pitch deeper in his next outing, which is lined up to be in Pittsburgh this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:33 pm
    • Goes the distance in victory
Keller (3-3) allowed one run, five hits and one walk in a complete game victory Monday against the Angels. He struck out five.

Advice: Keller stymied the Angels on Monday night en route to his second career complete game -- his first was a shutout May 8, 2023 against Colorado. The Pirates right-hander induced a whopping 64.0 percent groundball-rate, easily his highest in a start this season, outpacing the 37.5 percent rate he generated on the season prior to Monday. Keller is scheduled to make his next start against the Cubs at home this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:05 pm
