      Flaherty (1-4) allowed three runs on seven hits across 6.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Blue Jays. He walked one and struck out nine.

      Advice: Home runs by Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Daulton Varsho accounted for all of the runs against Flaherty, but the righty otherwise was sharp once again. He's got a solid 3.84 ERA and has struck out 81 batters across 61 innings this year. The problem has been run support, as he's allowed three earned runs or fewer in three of his four losses so far. Despite the lack of wins, Flaherty looks like a promising fantasy asset, and he'll aim to keep rolling in his next scheduled start, which is tentatively set for next Thursday against Boston.     • Flaherty strikes out nine against Jays Thursday
      Jack Flaherty allowed three runs and struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Blue Jays on Thursday.

      Advice: The runs against Flaherty came on a solo home run by Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the third and a two-run home run by Daulton Varsho in the seventh. He has struck out at least nine batters in four of his 10 starts this season. Eight of those starts have been quality starts, but he’s only won one game due to a lack of support from the Tigers’ offense and bullpen.     • Julio Rodríguez batting 6th for Mariners on Thursday
      Julio Rodríguez has been moved down to sixth in the order for Thursday’s game against the Yankees.

      Advice: Rodríguez hasn’t gotten off to the hot start many expected, but the move is a bit curious considering his average is up to .272 in May and his strikeout rate is down to 22 percent. The power has certainly not come, as he has just one home run in 20 games in May; however, he also has just one home run this season on 16 pulled flyballs and line drives so it feels like he’s been a bit unlucky in that regard.       Rodriguez will start in center field and bat sixth in Thursday's contest versus the Yankees.

      Advice: For the first time this season, Rodriguez won't be batting either first or second for Seattle. Rodriguez is hitting .325/.357/.425 over his last 10 games but has gone just 1-for-12 at the dish in the first three games of the series against the Yankees.       Francisco Lindor delivered a pair of doubles from the leadoff spot Wednesday against the Guardians.

      Naylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

      Advice: The Mets are starting left-hander Jose Quintana and the two teams are concluding the series with a day game after a night game, so it's a sensible spot for Guardians manager Stephen Vogt to give the left-handed-hitting Naylor a breather.       Bednar (3-3) picked up the win Tuesday, striking out one in a perfect 10th inning during a 7-6 victory over the Giants.

      Advice: After the Pirates rallied for four runs in the ninth, Bednar got the call for the top of the 10th and set down three straight pinch hitters in Mike Yastrzemski, LaMonte Wade and Patrick Bailey. The right-hander then got rewarded when Nick Gonzales walked it off by singling on the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the frame. Bednar has turned things around following a bumpy first month of the season, and over 10 appearances in May he's posted a 2.89 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB through 9.1 innings while converting all five of his save chances and chipping in two wins.       Webb came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Pirates, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: The right-hander delivered his third straight quality start and eighth of 2024 on 103 pitches (72 strikes), and Webb left the mound in line for his fifth win of the year only to watch Camilo Doval blow his first save of the season in the ninth inning.
