    • Brooks Lee hits first career homer against Astros
Brooks Lee went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Astros on Saturday.

Advice: Lee took Hunter Brown deep in the third inning, giving the Twins a six-run lead early in the game. It was Lee’s first career major league home run in his fourth game for the Twins since he was promoted on July 3. The 23-year-old is off to a good start, going 7-for-14 at the plate with six RBI so far. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

    • Cut by A's
The Athletics released Diaz on Saturday.

Advice: After being designated for assignment Tuesday, Diaz will now enter the open market and attempt to latch on with another organization -- likely on a minor-league contract. The 33-year-old posted a lowly .236 OPS in 30 plate appearances while in Oakland this year, and he is unlikely to have much of an impact in the majors at this stage in his career. • Set for rehab assignment
Arizona sent Lawlar (hamstring) on a rehab assignment to the Arizona Complex League Diamondbacks on Saturday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Lawlar was placed on Reno's 7-day injured list June 17 after sustaining a Grade 1 left hamstring strain while legging out a triple against Sacramento two days earlier. Lawlar missed the beginning of the season while recovering from a surgical procedure to repair ligament damage in his right thumb, and he played in just 11 games before the hamstring strain. The 22-year-old shortstop has gone 16-for-45 with five doubles, five stolen bases, one home run and 16 RBI in the minors this season. Lawlar will get up to game speed over a few outings in the ACL as he works his way back to Reno. Rotowire.com Today, 11:41 am
    • Blue Jays option Addison Barger back to Triple-A
Blue Jays optioned INF/OF Addison Barger to Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: With everyone healthy, there isn’t a clear path to at-bats for Barger in Toronto at the moment. The 24-year-old has added some defensive versatility to his game this season, but has batted .150 (9-for-60) with zero homers and one steal in 63 plate appearances over 20 games in the majors. He’s going to get another shot eventually, but it might not be in the near future. Rotoworld Today, 10:54 am

    • Back in minors
The Blue Jays optioned Barger to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.

Advice: With Justin Turner returning from the paternity list Saturday, Barger will end up as the odd man out of Toronto's 26-man roster. Since rejoining the big-league squad in June, the 24-year-old outfielder slashed just .190/.227/.238 with four RBI in 44 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 10:49 am

    • Plays field in rehab game
Bogaerts (shoulder) went 0-for-3 while playing second base in a minor-league rehab game with Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

Advice: After playing as the designated hitter in his first rehab contest Thursday, Bogaerts transitioned to second base in his second game Friday. He's gone 1-for-6 with a walk and two strikeouts over the pair of appearances. While there seems to be ample time for Bogaerts to ramp up and return to the Padres before the All-Star break, MLB.com reports that manager Mike Shildt wouldn't commit to that Friday, saying "I wouldn't rule it out, but I wouldn't say, 'Yes.'" • Picks up 14th steal
Henderson went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.

Advice: Henderson has usually made an impact with power, but he flashed his speed Friday. He stole third base and scored on an error following his leadoff single in the first inning. The shortstop is 16-for-46 (.348) over his last 11 games, lifting his season slash line to .288/.379/.599 through 87 contests. He's added 27 home runs, 14 steals, 60 RBI, 76 runs scored, 18 doubles and four triples. Rotowire.com Today, 10:40 am
    • Idle Saturday
Mateo isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Saturday's game against Oakland.

Advice: Mateo will get a day off Saturday after going 1-for-4 with a strikeout during Friday's series opener. His absence will move Jordan Westburg over to second base while Ramon Urias starts at third, batting ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 10:38 am

    • Taking seat Saturday
McKinstry isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Saturday's game versus Cincinnati.

Advice: McKinstry has failed to record a base hit in 14 at-bats over his last five contests, and he'll now sit down for the second game in a row Saturday. Ryan Kreidler will start instead at shortstop and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 10:31 am
