    • Takes no-decision Wednesday
Wheeler allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision versus the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Wheeler has posted quality starts in eight of his last nine outings, the lone exception being an eight-run disaster at Baltimore on June 16. The right-hander left Wednesday's game with a lead, but Matt Strahm couldn't maintain it, though the Phillies went on to win 5-3 anyway. Wheeler is now at a 2.74 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 119:33 K:BB through 111.2 innings over 18 starts this season. He's projected for a tough home start versus the Dodgers in his next outing. • Joey Estes tosses complete-game shutout Wednesday
Joey Estes tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out four in a win over the Angels on Wednesday.

Advice: Estes was incredible on the mound on Wednesday, tossing his first career complete-game shutout against the Angels. He scattered five hits and one walk, striking out four batters. He was able to escape trouble with three ground ball double plays by his infield defense. The 22-year-old right-hander will look to follow up the excellent start when he takes a 4.39 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 43/13 K/BB ratio across 54 2/3 innings into a start against the Red Sox in Boston on Tuesday. • Jon Gray chased in fifth inning
Jon Gray allowed three earned runs in four-plus innings on Wednesday against the Padres. He struck out two and walked two.

Advice: Gray labored in this one. He didn’t record a single 1-2-3 inning and was yanked after allowing the first two batters to reach in the fifth. He was much better earlier this season when he was throwing enough curveballs and changeups to keep hitters honest. He threw just seven total in this game and they couldn’t supplement his fastball and slider. Rotoworld Today, 8:54 pm

    • Adam Mazur inefficient against Rangers
Adam Mazur allowed four runs on seven hits in four innings of work on Wednesday against the Rangers. He struck out four without walking a batter.

Advice: Good news, this was Mazur’s first start without a walk in the major leagues. This was also the first start Mazur used his nasty slider as his primary pitch. As for the bad news, the Rangers hunted that fastball and did plenty of damage off it. While Mazur may keep getting opportunities in the Padres injury-riddled rotation, he looks a bit over-matched by major league hitters so far. Rotoworld Today, 8:53 pm

    • Dominant in Wednesday's win
Sale (11-3) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings to earn the win over the Giants on Wednesday.

Advice: Sale has allowed just one run in each of his last three starts, though he was unlucky to come away with just two wins in that span. His 11 wins rank first in the National League, and Sale is tied with Kansas City's Seth Lugo for the major-league lead. Sale is now at a 2.71 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 127:19 K:BB through 99.2 innings over 16 starts this season. The southpaw's next start is projected to be on the road in Arizona. Rotowire.com Today, 8:52 pm

    • Yields three runs in loss
Hicks (4-5) allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings, taking the loss versus Atlanta on Wednesday.

Advice: Hicks is winless in his last eight outings, going 0-4 with a 5.02 ERA in that span. He's walked multiple batters in six of those starts, though Wednesday was the fourth time in that span that he's avoided giving up a home run. Hicks is at a 3.47 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 82:35 K:BB through 90.2 innings over 18 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home against one of his former teams, the Blue Jays. • Blake Snell dominates in final rehab start
Blake Snell delivered a dominant performance in his final minor league rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, piling up nine strikeouts over five scoreless frames.

Advice: The reigning National League Cy Young award winner didn’t allow a hit in the contest, allowing just one base on balls. Snell got up to 67 pitches (46 strikes) in this one, cruising through his five innings. As long as he checks out fine physically, expect him to rejoin the Giants’ rotation next week. • Jared Shuster set to start for White Sox Thursday
Jared Shuster will start for the White Sox in Thursday’s series finale against the Guardians.

Advice: Shuster has pitched exclusively out of the White Sox’ bullpen this season, posting a 3.15 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 21/16 K/BB ratio over 34 1/3 innings in 17 appearances. The 25-year-old hurler threw 64 pitches a couple of weeks ago against the Tigers, but otherwise hasn’t been stretched out, so he shouldn’t be expected to work more than a couple of innings on Thursday. • Jakob Junis steps in for first save against Rockies
Jakob Junis struck out one batter over two scoreless innings to earn the save against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Trevor Megill got the night off after pitching in back-to-back games. Junis stepped in and shut the Rockies down over the final two frames with a three-run lead to earn his first save of the season. Rotoworld Today, 8:17 pm
