      Advice: Rutschman had a brief cold spell a couple of weeks ago, but he's bounced back well. He's hit safely in six straight games, going 9-for-25 (.360) in that span. The catcher is slashing .304/.342/.473 with 10 home runs, 38 RBI, 30 runs scored and one stolen base over 54 contests this season.       Bassitt (6-6) picked up the win Sunday, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings against the Pirates. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Bassitt didn't seem to be held back at all after leaving his previous start with neck spasms, tossing 100 pitches Sunday and picking up his third straight victory. The 35-year-old has been part of the decision in all 12 of his starts this season and hasn't yielded more than three runs in an outing since April 26.       Ryan McMahon singled and drew a pair of walks as the Rockies were shut out by Gavin Stone and a host of Dodgers’ relievers on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.

This was his third straight win in as many starts as he’s put a poor April in the rear view mirror and pitched much more like the ultra-steady Bassitt we’ve come to expect.       Cubs transferred RHP Adbert Alzolay from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

      Advice: Alzolay is now off the 40-man roster, and the Cubs used that space to select the contract of David Bote. Alzolay has been on the injured list since May 13 with a forearm strain, and he’s now not eligible to return to the Chicago bullpen until July 13.       The Cubs transferred Alzolay (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

      Advice: The right-hander has been sidelined nearly three weeks by a forearm strain and remains shut down from throwing, so the move likely won't significantly affect his return timeline.
