Brujan (undisclosed) is batting seventh and playing second base Tuesday against Boston.

Advice: Brujan was scratched from Saturday's game against Philadelphia for unspecified reasons and remained out of the lineup for Sunday's contest. However, he'll enter the starting nine at second base Tuesday while Xavier Edwards plays shortstop. With Tim Anderson booted from the 40-man roster, Brujan should see regular playing time in the infield moving forward. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:54 am

    • Report: Anderson to be designated for assignment
Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports that the Marlins intend to designate Tim Anderson for assignment.

Advice: Xavier Edwards will be brought up to take Anderson’s place on the roster. The 31-year-old was brought in by Miami in hopes that he could find the hit tool that made him one of the better infielders in baseball not long ago. He did not as seen in a .214 average, .463 OPS and 68 strikeouts in 234 at-bats. The Marlins will look to trade Anderson or see him potentially claimed off the waiver wire, but it seems unlikely he would report to Triple-A if neither of those things happen. It seems that Anderson’s days of being a fantasy helper could be over. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:39 am

    • On base three times in loss
Abrams went 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored in Monday's extra-inning loss to the Mets.

Advice: The streaky leadoff hitter has drawn five free passes over the last three games, and over his last 20 contests Abrams is slashing a blistering .408/.512/.690 with three homers, five steals, 15 RBI and 18 runs. The peaks have outweighed the valleys so far in 2024 for the 23-year-old shortstop -- Abrams' .860 OPS is nearly a 150-point improvement on his .712 mark from last season. • Designated for assignment
The Marlins designated Anderson for assignment Tuesday, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

Advice: Miami giving Anderson a modest one-year, $5 million contract in hopes that he could have a bounce-back season seemed like a no-brainer. The rebound didn't come, as Anderson slashed a hideous .214/.237/.226 with no home runs and a 68:7 K:BB over 65 games. He will clear waivers and eventually be released, at which point another club could take a chance on him at the prorated veteran minimum salary. It's no given that Anderson will receive that opportunity, however, considering his .544 OPS since the start of the 2023 campaign. Vidal Brujan could get a shot at shortstop for the Marlins with Anderson out of the picture, with Xavier Edwards also potentially in the mix. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:38 am

    • MRI negative on Corey Seager’s hand
An MRI on Corey Seager’s injured left hand came back negative, leaving the shortstop day-to-day.

Advice: Seager left Saturday’s game after being hit by a pitch and didn’t play Sunday. With no damage inside the hand, he’ll be able to play as soon as he feels comfortable gripping and swinging a bat. Rotoworld Monday, 3:23 pm

    • Isiah Kiner-Falefa undergoes MRI on knee
Isiah Kiner-Falefa said he underwent an MRI after feeling something in his left knee while stretching prior to Monday’s game.

Advice: This doesn’t sound good. Kiner-Falefa, who is putting together a terrific season as a super-utilityman, was a last-minute scratch before the game today. If he lands on the injured list, it’ll probably mean more regular playing time for Davis Schneider and a longer look for Addison Barger. Rotoworld Monday, 3:18 pm

    • Undergoes MRI on knee
Kiner-Falefa is awaiting results of an MRI on his left knee, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Advice: Kiner-Falefa was a late scratch from Monday's lineup against the Astros after feeling something in his knee while stretching pregame. Ernie Clement was in the lineup for the Blue Jays on Monday at third base, where Kiner-Falefa has been seeing most of his playing time. It's possible an update on Kiner-Falefa's status will be available later Monday. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:11 pm

    • MRI comes back negative
An MRI on Seager's left wrist has come back negative, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: X-rays had also previously came back clean, so Seager's return to the Rangers' lineup will be determined by how much discomfort and swelling he's dealing with. The shortstop was injured when he was struck by a pitch Saturday in Baltimore and didn't play Sunday's game, but he has managed to avoid a serious injury and should be considered day-to-day. Texas has a team off day Monday before starting a series at home against the Padres on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:38 pm

    • Isiah Kiner-Falefa (knee) scratched from lineup
Isiah Kiner-Falefa was removed from Monday’s starting lineup with a left knee injury.

Advice: There are no details yet on the severity of the injury, but we’ll provide an update when we have it. Kevin Kiermaier is now in the game in center field as the Blue Jays juggled the positions for their starting lineup. Rotoworld Monday, 12:46 pm
