Advice: Navarro was batting .254/.357/.353 in 207 plate appearances and had committed 13 errors in the field this season at Triple-A Norfolk. The 25-year-old utilityman seems likely to make it through waivers.

    • Marco Scutaro is back in the Giants' lineup Tuesday.
Advice: Scutaro is dealing with "mallet finger" in his left pinkie, which is a form of tendon damage. The injury can often take 6-8 weeks to fully recover from, but Scutaro will try to play through it. He had missed the previous six games.

    • Marco Scutaro (thumb) said he expects to return to the Giants' lineup "soon."
Advice: "Soon," Scutaro said Monday. "Tomorrow. Next day... depends on how the finger reacts (from day to day)." Scutaro hasn't played since last Tuesday after being diagnosed with "mallet finger" as a result of a hit by pitch. The injury can often take 6-8 weeks to fully recover from, but Scutaro will try to play through it.

    • Marco Scutaro (thumb) took batting practice prior to Saturday's game.
Advice: It was the first time he's done so since he was diagnosed with "mallet finger." Scutaro will be reevaluated on Monday when the team returns home, at which point he'll be fitted with a custom orthotic splint. He'll attempt to play through the injury.

    • Marco Scutaro (thumb) will not play this weekend against the Braves.
Advice: The good news is that Scutaro is feeling much better, and was able to take swings in an indoor batting cage on Friday. He's going to be fitting for a custom orthotic splint when the team returns home on Monday, so there's a chance he could return after that.

    • Everth Cabrera (hamstring) is not in the Padres' lineup Monday.
Advice: Cabrera tweaked his left hamstring during Sunday's game. The shortstop thinks he could play through the ailment, but the Padres will give him a few days off as a precaution. "I feel like I can play but I don't want to play at 50 percent," Cabrera said. Pedro Ciriaco is starting at shortstop Monday.

    • Jedd Gyorko (groin) took grounders on the field prior to Tuesday's game.
Advice: Gyorko landed on the DL over a week ago and is just now getting back into baseball activities. He's eligible to return in a week but will need to go out on a rehab assignment first. It's not clear when he'll be ready for that.

    • Martin Prado went 1-for-4 Monday against the Marlins.
Advice: Owners hoping for Prado to shake his season-long slump as the weather began heating up have been disappointed, as June has been the veteran's worst at the plate thus far. Prado hasn't hit a homer since late-April and has logged an RBI in just two games this month. He's batting an anemic .244/.296/.335 in his first season in Arizona.

    • Mike Aviles went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI as the Indians beat the Royals on Tuesday.
Advice: Aviles was in the middle of the Indians' three-run eighth inning, eventually scoring the winning run on a Michael Brantley sacrifice fly. The utility infielder has gotten regular playing time with Asdrubal Cabrera sidelined, but he should return to a reserve role when Cabrera returns. He's hitting .277 on the year.

    • Mike Aviles finished 3-for-4 in the Indians' loss to the Nationals on Saturday in Cleveland.
Advice: Aviles had a double in the third inning, a single in the fifth and a second double in the ninth. He has struggled for the most part this season but may be a decent fill-in for Troy Tulowitzki owners over the next several weeks.

    • Pedro Ciriaco went 3-for-6 with a stolen base against the Giants on Monday.
Advice: Acquired from the Red Sox in exchange for a player to be named later on Friday, Ciriaco is now 3-for-9 over three games for the Friars. Ciriaco doesn't figure to play or hit enough to become fantasy relevant, but he's usable in deeper NL-only formats at the moment due to Jedd Gyorko's injury.

    • Padres acquired INF Pedro Ciriaco from the Red Sox in exchange for a player to be named later.

    • Mets placed INF Justin Turner on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 17, with an intercostal strain.
Advice: The move clears a spot for Scott Atchison's return from the disabled list. Turner will be eligible to return in early July and has a chance to be ready by then. The 28-year-old is batting .266/.307/.330 in 94 at-bats this season.

Advice: No word on how or when the injury occurred, though it's worth noting that he flung a pie in the face of Kirk Nieuwenhuis during the team's post-game celebration on Sunday. Turner, 28, is batting .266/.307/.300 in a utility role with the Mets this season.

    • Rangers manager Ron Washington said Monday that the club plans to make Jurickson Profar a "functional left fielder."
Advice: While the Rangers were initially expected to send Profar down the minors upon Ian Kinsler's return, they now think they can manage to get him enough at-bats by adding the outfield to his resume. • Chase Utley (oblique) could begin a minor league rehab assignment as early as Tuesday night.
Advice: Utley took batting practice with his Phillies teammates on Friday and Saturday at Coors Field, reporting no issues with his right oblique. If he indeed starts playing in rehab games Tuesday, he should be back on Philadelphia's active 25-man roster by the end of this week.

Advice: It's the first time he's done so since a strained right oblique sent him to the disabled list. Utley will take batting practice again on Sunday and seems likely to be cleared for a rehab assignment soon. The Phillies haven't provided a timetable for the second baseman, but a return next weekend would seem to be a best-case scenario.

    • Omar Infante went 4-for-4 and swiped his third base Monday against the Orioles.
Advice: With limited home run power and stolen base speed, Infante brings more to the table for the Tigers than he does for fantasy teams. He does have his average up to .308 at the moment, but he's more likely to come in closer to the .280-.290 range the rest of the way.

    • Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Monday that Jordy Mercer will receive the bulk of the playing time at shortstop moving forward.
Advice: Clint Barmes began the year as the starter, but he's batting a pathetic .198/.231/.265 through 54 games this season. Meanwhile, Mercer has been productive when given the opportunity. The 26-year-old doesn't project as a long-term piece, but he's worth owning in NL-only leagues for now.

    • Jordy Mercer went 0-for-3 Thursday in a loss to the Giants.
Advice: Mercer went 5-for-10 over his previous two games. He's only hitting .268 with a .286 OBP over 82 at-bats, but the utility man has a .476 slugging percentage thanks to 10 extra-base hits. Mercer is useful depth in NL-only leagues.

    • Robinson Cano went 0-for-3 with a walk in Saturday's loss to the Angels.
Advice: New York received no hits from their 3-5 hitters, a big reason why Tommy Hanson was able to stifle the Bronx Bombers. Cano, the best offensive second baseman in the game, is enjoying a typically fabulous season, batting .278/.351/.511. He's fifth in the American League with 16 homers.

    • Sean Rodriguez has just one hit since May 26.
Advice: It came on June 11, his only start of the month. Rodriguez has multi-position eligibility and a decent .246/.342/.406 slash line through 69 at-bats, but he doesn't play enough to be relevant in most formats.

    • Freddy Galvis helped rally the Phillies on Friday by going 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run triples in an 8-7 win over the Rockies.
Advice: Galvis tied the game in the seventh inning with his second triple while Jimmy Rollins drove him in with a go-ahead single. The four RBI gave him a new career-high. While it was a big game for the 23-year-old, he entered Friday's contest with a miserable .221/.264/.362 batting line in the big leagues. Known more for his glove, Galvis is not an option in fantasy leagues.

    • Anthony Rendon hit the game-winning homer Saturday in the Nationals' 7-6 defeat of the Indians.
Advice: Rendon's ninth-inning solo blast gave the Nats a one-run lead and Rafael Soriano held the Tribe scoreless in the bottom half of the frame. Rendon also doubled and singled in what was probably his best game yet in the major leagues. The talented 23-year-old is batting .333/.406/.491 overall this season and has been especially productive since his latest callup from the minors.

    • Anthony Rendon is not in the Nationals' lineup Friday.

    • Gordon Beckham went 1-for-4 with a single and two strikeouts Friday in his first start of the season out of the leadoff spot.
Advice: Beckham is now hitting .305 (11-for-36) with two doubles, one RBI and five runs scored in 10 games since coming off the disabled list. We don't expect the batting average to last, but he should do enough in counting stats to be a decent middle infielder option in deeper mixed leagues. Look for him to slide back down near the bottom of the order when Alejandro De Aza (illness) is ready to return to action.

    • Josh Rutledge clubbed a two-run homer in Friday's loss to the Phillies.
Advice: Rutledge, called up Friday to replace Troy Tulowitzki (rib fracture) on the active roster, batted leadoff and started at second base in his return. He figures to also play some shortstop while Tulo is sidelined, though Jonathan Herrera got the start there Friday night. Rutledge struggled prior to being demoted last month, but his power-speed combo makes him worth picking up in deeper mixed leagues.

    • Rockies recalled INF Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Advice: Rutledge has played really well since his demotion last month, batting .348/.438/.565 with two homers in 69 at-bats. He figures to see regular playing time between shortstop and second base, so go ahead and pick him up in deeper mixed leagues.

    • Jordany Valdespin had an RBI single Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.
Advice: His single in the bottom of the eighth inning broke an 0-for-15 streak. Valdespin is getting a chance to fill in at second base now that Daniel Murphy has taken over for the demoted Ike Davis at first base, but his audition doesn't figure to be a long one if he doesn't produce. However, he has enough pop and speed to be interesting in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
