Advice: Izturis had two of the Jays' three hits on the night. He's finally come alive of late, going 10-for-29 over his last seven games. Previously, he was hitting just .202/.240/.288 in 163 at-bats.

    • Mike Moustakas went 0-for-3 and was removed for a pinch-hitter Monday against the Indians.
Advice: Moustakas had singled in each of his previous five starts, but he hasn't collected an extra-base hit since way back on May 25. The Royals should have sent him down a couple of weeks ago, and they might go that route when they activate Jarrod Dyson from the DL.

    • Justin Turner is dealing with an intercostal issue and may have to be placed on the disabled list.
Advice: No word on how or when the injury occurred, though it's worth noting that he flung a pie in the face of Kirk Nieuwenhuis during the team's post-game celebration on Sunday. Turner, 28, is batting .266/.307/.300 in a utility role with the Mets this season.

    • Marco Scutaro (thumb) said he expects to return to the Giants' lineup "soon."
Advice: "Soon," Scutaro said Monday. "Tomorrow. Next day... depends on how the finger reacts (from day to day)." Scutaro hasn't played since last Tuesday after being diagnosed with "mallet finger" as a result of a hit by pitch. The injury can often take 6-8 weeks to fully recover from, but Scutaro will try to play through it.

    • Marco Scutaro (thumb) took batting practice prior to Saturday's game.
Advice: It was the first time he's done so since he was diagnosed with "mallet finger." Scutaro will be reevaluated on Monday when the team returns home, at which point he'll be fitted with a custom orthotic splint. He'll attempt to play through the injury.

    • Marco Scutaro (thumb) will not play this weekend against the Braves.
Advice: The good news is that Scutaro is feeling much better, and was able to take swings in an indoor batting cage on Friday. He's going to be fitting for a custom orthotic splint when the team returns home on Monday, so there's a chance he could return after that.

    • Giants manager Bruce Bochy indicated that Marco Scutaro (finger) is unlikely to play this weekend.
Advice: Scutaro was hit in the left pinkie with a pitch on Tuesday and was diagnosed with "mallet finger," a type of tendon damage that can often take 6-8 weeks to fully recover from. He wants to play through the pain, but there's just too much soreness and swelling at the moment.

    • Marco Scutaro has told the Giants' coaching staff that he wants to play through the pain in his left pinkie.
Advice: Scutaro was diagnosed Wednesday with "mallet finger," a type of tendon damage that can often take 6-8 weeks to fully recover from. But the veteran second baseman thinks he'll feel well enough to return to action within the next couple of days. It's a cloudy situation right now for fantasy owners.

    • Alex Rodriguez (hip) is scheduled to face live pitching for the first time this year on Tuesday in Tampa.
Advice: A-Rod is finally beginning to take major strides in his recovery from January hip surgery. He ran the bases at 75 percent effort over the weekend and is now ready to begin working on his timing at the plate. The veteran third baseman will be activated from the disabled list shortly after the All-Star break if everything continues to go according to plan with his rehab.

    • Alex Rodriguez (hip) ran the bases at 75 percent effort on Saturday.
Advice: It's a significant step as the third baseman works his way back from hip surgery. "I'm curious to see how he's going to feel tomorrow, or the next day," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Saturday. "But that's something that he hasn't been doing. And that's good." A-Rod has also been taking batting practice and fielding grounders. He obviously has a long ways to go but appears to be progressing on schedule so far. The Yankees are hoping to get him back shortly after the All-Star break.

    • Hanley Ramirez is back in the Dodgers' lineup Friday.
Advice: Ramirez has been limited to pinch-hitting over the last week after aggravating his left hamstring injury. He's certainly at risk of hurting it again, but the Dodgers feel he's good enough to give it a go.

    • Hanley Ramirez was used as a pinch-hitter Wednesday and grounded into a double play against the Diamondbacks.
Advice: Had Ramirez been healthy, he probably would have beaten out the relay. However, the Dodgers didn't want him testing his injured hamstring on the ball. He remains day-to-day.

    • Hanley Ramirez (hamstring) ran the bases prior to Wednesday's game.
Advice: Hanley is out of the Dodgers' lineup again, but, assuming he gets through the running alright, he should be back in the lineup on Friday after the off day. Ramirez has only started five games this season due to injury issues.

    • Placido Polanco went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.
Advice: It was his first start since last Monday, as he had been battling lower back stiffness. Polanco is still batting just .237/.297/.270 for the season, but if he can manage to stay healthy, a contender might view him as a decent bench option next month.

    • Todd Frazier homered in a second straight game against the Cubs on Wednesday.
Advice: Frazier had gone almost seven weeks without a homer before hitting one Tuesday. Expect the power to stick around now. The bigger issue is whether he'll hit for average. He's at .248 right now after bottoming out at .214 last month.

Advice: It came on June 11, his only start of the month. Rodriguez has multi-position eligibility and a decent .246/.342/.406 slash line through 69 at-bats, but he doesn't play enough to be relevant in most formats.
