    • Notches sixth save
Duran threw a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout against the Rangers on Saturday to earn his sixth save of the season.

Advice: The Twins grabbed the lead in the bottom of the eighth on an Alex Kirilloff three-run homer, and Duran was there the next half inning to close the door. He retired the side in order on just eight pitches and is now the team leader in saves with six to Griffin Jax's five, even though Duran missed the first month of the season due to an oblique injury. Duran has been used occasionally in the eighth since making his return, but he's still clearly the preferred closing option in Minnesota when manager Rocco Baldelli has the luxury of holding him back for the ninth. • Holmes picks up 15th save on Saturday
Clay Holmes tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Padres on Saturday.

Advice: Holmes pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning and struck out one on his way to his 15th save of the season, which is second among closers in all of baseball. He blew a save earlier this week, but has since bounced back with a four-out save and a clean ninth inning save. Holmes figures to continue racking up saves the way the Yankees’ season is going. • Jhoan Duran locks down sixth save against Rangers
Jhoan Duran struck out one batter in a clean ninth inning to earn the save against the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: After the Twins came back to take a two-run lead in the bottom of the eighth, Duran was summoned to close it out in the top of the ninth. He struck out one batter in a clean frame on just eight pitches, shutting the door on the Rangers for his sixth save. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:10 pm

    • Jhoan Durán throws hitless inning for save
Jhoan Durán worked a hitless ninth for his fifth save Friday against the Rangers.

Advice: After giving up runs in his previous three appearances, Duran had a pretty easy one tonight, though he did walk a batter. Duran had his worst fastball velocity of the season last time out, averaging 99.0 mph, but he was back up to 101.0 mph tonight, which is obviously good news. Rotoworld Friday, 10:06 pm

    • Secures fifth save
Duran allowed a walk and struck out one batter in a scoreless inning to earn a save over the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Duran worked around a two-out walk to finish off a 3-2 win. He'd been tagged with five runs in 2.2 innings over his previous three outings after beginning the year with a seven-inning scoreless streak. Friday's outing was his first scoreless appearance since May 12 and lowered his ERA to 4.22 alongside an 11:4 K:BB. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:23 pm

    • Rebounds for 14th save
Holmes earned the save in Thursday's 5-0 win over Seattle, allowing two hits while striking out two in 1.1 innings.

Advice: He came on in relief in the eighth after Nick Burdi loaded the bases. Holmes induced a grounder off the bat of Luke Raley for the final out before working around a pair of singles in the ninth to earn his 14th save. It's a nice bounce-back effort from Holmes, after he allowed four runs in a blown save against Seattle on Monday, the first four runs he's allowed this season. Overall, the 31-year-old right-hander sports a 1.64 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB across 22 innings this year. Rotowire.com Thursday, 2:46 pm
    • Jhoan Durán gives up homer before earning save
Jhoan Durán picked up his fourth save Wednesday despite giving up a homer in the ninth against the Nationals.

Advice: The homer from Joey Meneses led off the ninth in a two-run game. The next batter singled, at which point Dave Martinez put in speedy Rule 5 pick Nasim Nuñez to run. Martinez, though, just couldn’t help himself and still gave away an out to have Ildemaro Vargas bunt Nuñez over when Nuñez most likely could have stolen the base on his own. Apparently, he was really expecting Joey Gallo to deliver a game-tying single. Durán retired the next two batters to end the game. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:36 pm

    • Holds on for fourth save
Duran picked up the save in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Nationals despite allowing a run on two hits in the ninth inning. He struck out one.

Advice: Called upon to protect a two-run lead in the ninth, Duran got off to a rocky start, surrendering a leadoff homer to Joey Meneses followed by a Luis Garcia single. However, following a sac bunt that moved Garcia into scoring position, Duran struck out Joey Gallo before inducing a game-ending groundout from Keibert Ruiz to close out a 3-2 win. While he was able to escape with the save Wednesday, Duran's been shaky recently, allowing homers in three consecutive outings and five runs over 2.2 innings in that span. He now has four saves with a 4.66 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB across 9.2 innings to start the year. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:11 pm

    • Loses perfect ERA
Holmes (1-1) allowed four runs on four hits and two walks while taking a loss against the Mariners on Monday. He blew a save chance and recorded only two outs.

Advice: Holmes entered Monday with zero earned runs allowed through 20 innings this season. Seattle chipped away at him with singles and walks to plate four runs and take the lead in the ninth inning. Holmes' ERA jumped to 1.74 as he was handed his first loss of the year. He's converted 13 of his 15 save chances while registering a 23:6 K:BB through 20.2 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:24 pm
